La Castanyada is a traditional Catalan celebration held on October 31st where chestnuts and sweet potatoes are eaten. A fictional woman called "La Castanyera" roasts chestnuts to sell to children. Schools also make "panellets", a type of cake, for the holiday. Today, La Castanyada is celebrated on All Saints Day or the eve with family, through school activities for children, or community fairs in the streets.
