This presentation provides an overview of installing and using Apache Kylin, an open source distributed analytics engine for extremely large datasets. It discusses prerequisites, downloading Kylin, starting the Kylin service, building a sample cube by loading sample sales data into Hive and HBase, and querying the cube using SQL through the Kylin Web interface. This presentation provides an overview of Kylin installation using Hortonworks HDP 2.2

7. Prerequisites for Kylin installation
• Hadoop: 2.4 - 2.7
• Hive: 0.13 - 0.14
• HBase: 0.98 - 0.99 –Kylin OLAP cubes are stored in HBase tables.
• JDK: 1.7+
Kylin requires running HBase instance. In Hortonworks Sandbox, HBase is not started by
default. Ensure HBase service is started before Kylin installation

8. Downloading Kylin
Download Kylin from http://kylin.apache.org/download/
Extract downloaded file to a directory

1. export KYLIN_HOME=directory where Kylin was extracted after download

Executing sample.sh loads sample sales data in Hive tables and then builds OLAP cube
and loads data in HBase.

Default Username / Password is: ADMIN/KYLIN
