Digital Communication in Tourism - Presentation
Digital communication in tourism has led to tourism discourse becoming more promotional and persuasive in nature, relying on multimodality. Official tourism websites for London, Edinburgh, and Manchester were analyzed from 2003-2016. All three shifted from static, brochure-style sites in 2003 to more dynamic sites in 2007/2008 emphasizing visuals and persuasion. By 2011, sites disrupted traditional reading patterns. In 2016, sites remained innovative but mature, balancing information and promotion through visual and textual elements tailored to each destination's personality.
Improving the Seoul Metro Tourist Experience
Imaging exploring a city with over 21 million people on foot in a city where people do not speak your language. And with over 2.5 billion passengers taking the subway across 18 subway lines in a year, how would you cope as a tourist?
As a tourist myself, I spent 12 weeks over the spring of 2012 on a self directed Service Design project, aiming to uncover useful insights to enhance the tourist experience via investigating the usage of taking the subway in Seoul, South Korea. Ultimately earning my MDes of Experience Design at the Samsung Art & Design Institute (SADI).
