Project FACE RECOGNITION FOR LOW RANK MATRIX DECOMPOSITION.

Project Description For the task of robust face recognition, we particularly focus on the scenario in
which training and test image data are corrupted due to occlusion or disguise.
Prior standard face recognition methods like Eigen faces or state-of-the-art
approaches such as sparse representation-based classification did not consider
possible contamination of data during training, and thus their recognition
performance on corrupted test data would be degraded. In this paper, we
propose a novel face recognition algorithm based on low-rank matrix
decomposition to address the afore mentioned problem.

2. Project 2:
Project Characteristics analysis of extruded elliptical hole photonic crystal fibers with
square air core
Time Period Jan 2015 - April 2015(4 months)
Project Description An extruded elliptical hole photonic crystal fibers PCF with square air-core is
proposed. By using a full vector finite-element method FV-FEM and anisotropic
perfectly matched layers APML, the structure and optical properties of the
proposed PCF are analyzed. Simulation results show that the birefringence of the
proposed photonic crystal fiber can be up to the order of 10−2.
