Focus on strategy-not
technology
Technology supports collaboration, co-creation and connectivity,
three binding elements in C-Gen Knowledge Management. However
there´s too much software and technology in the KM landscape and
this is driving attention away from vital KM elements.
For example, What critical knowledge are we trying to manage? What
software can help us to leverage that critical knowledge?

Focus on critical
knowledge
Before you decide on what technology or software will work for you,
you need to define what your critical knowledge is. For this you must
work alongside business leaders in order to determine what
knowledge is required in terms of strategy, business orientation, client
requirements, etc.
This is essential in order to define the overall KM strategy and
objectives.

Engamement
is essential, but generating
valuable content is more
important
It´s great when people begin to create content and start engaging
with their community. However, you need to ask yourself: “Do we just
want people to share stuff or make a difference?” For example, how
much content is actually related to critical knowledge?

Meaningful KM strategies entail a real understanding of culture. If
there´s anything which prohibits a knowledge sharing culture, Kmers
need to reverse it. Deep observation and constant retroalimentation
with business leaders is vital in order to sustain a KM driven culture

Millenials are currenty shifting the future development of KM as they
push forward new ways of interacting and sharing knowledge. The 3
C´s governing millenial social behavior (Connectivity, collaboration
and co-creation) will thrust forward C-gen Knowledge Management.
