In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Wednesday Night Fellowship Meal - November 11th from 5:30 - 6:30 pm (Arrival
anytime between 5:30 and 6:30 pm). The menu will be: Fried Chicken, Buttered
Potatoes, Baby Lima Beans, Hot Bread, Homemade Desserts and Beverages (Cheese
Pizza always available). Reservations/cancellations must be made by noon on Monday,
November 9th. Call the church office to make reservations at 919-266-2471 or by
completing the “Wednesday Night Fellowship Meal” section on the back of the Welcome
card, located in the back of your pew, and drop it in the offering plate. Please make sure
to write your name on the card. Cost for the meal is: adults (10-up) $5.00, children (4-9)
$2.00 and children 3 and under eat free (Max charge per family - $20.00).
OCC Shoebox Packing Party - Wednesday, November 11th at 6:30 PM
in the Family Life Center, immediately following the Wednesday Night
Fellowship Meal.
Upward Evaluation - The first Upward evaluation is Saturday, November 14th from
11:00 AM-1:00 PM in the Family Life Center. The deadline to register for Upward is

Backpack Buddies - A big THANK YOU to those who contributed
food during this year's Fall Festival and to those who continuously
donate throughout the traditional school year to help some of the
children at Knightdale Elementary School and their respective families
in need. Currently, we are fully stocked in every category! However,
plastic grocery bags are needed at this time. An easy way to donate bags
is to stuff as many as you can inside an empty paper towel tube and then drop the tube(s)
off in one of two food collection bins located on the floor downstairs in the Sanctuary
building across from the Fellowship Hall (kitchen side). Thank you again for supporting
this local ministry.
