Governor Walker proposed an 11% budget cut to the Cooperative Extension which may result in 40-50 FTE and 70-80 position reductions. The Extension is taking proactive steps to communicate its value to state and county legislatures to minimize further cuts, including partnering with the WCA and maintaining its relationship with UW-Madison during the transition to the New Badger Partnership. The Extension will focus on retaining local presence, reducing administration costs, and increasing grant activities to withstand projected budget cuts at the state, federal, and county levels.
