Whistle blowers | Stop bad code on its tracksVinod Kumaar R
The document discusses various software development best practices and problems like duplicate code, long methods, poor test coverage, and procedural code. It suggests implementing a few simple rules to address these problems, such as limiting method length, complexity, and ensuring proper test coverage. These rules would be enforced automatically and warnings given on violations. The effects of implementing these rules are evaluated and lessons learned. Various tools to help implement the rules are also mentioned.
This document discusses the state of change management and debunks common myths that limit its potential. It summarizes the evolution of change management from its foundations to increased professionalization. Several "buzzes" are addressed, including that change management is unnecessary if solutions are liked, if people are involved, or if change is everyone's job. The document argues that successful change requires more than these factors and that change management plays an important role in helping individuals through transitions.
This document discusses predictions for the future of technology. It references the film "The Truman Show" and how people increasingly curate their own lives for social media like performances. New technologies often find new purposes rather than replacing old ones entirely, like how cars didn't replace horses. The document predicts that by 2030, robots will take over many jobs like fast food, retail, and parts of the medical and legal professions through automation, but criminal law will still require human lawyers due to rights to legal counsel.
The document provides information about the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program presented by the Patriots Technology Training Center. It introduces the presenters and discusses the agenda which includes an overview of FLL, an icebreaker activity, a research project video, a natural disaster quiz, an overview of the robot games, and a question and answer session. It provides details about the various FLL programs, what FLL involves, the 2013 challenge theme of natural disasters, the project, robot design and game components.

The digital revolution and the future 2012Bex Lewis
The document discusses the impact of digital technologies and social media on communication, information sharing, and social practices. It notes how the printing press first enabled widespread access to text and ideas. Similarly, mobile phones and the internet have transformed how people connect and access information globally. While technologies create new opportunities, they also introduce new constraints and can change social behaviors. The future may bring augmented reality, integrated devices as part of the "Internet of Things," and new forms of broadcast and social ministry online. Overall, the document reflects on both the fears and possibilities associated with digital transformation.

For making ideas concrete, it suggests using physical metaphors and human scale. For telling stories, it emphasizes including activities, motivations and characters. For knowing your first audience, it advises conducting research on stakeholders' priorities and framing ideas as solutions to problems they care about. The overall message is that these techniques can help make UX ideas more influential and memorable for stakeholders.

It emphasizes that innovation requires integrating multiple streams and building on various components, processes, knowledge, people and relationships. The document also stresses that innovation is rarely a solitary effort, and encourages considering how to work with outside partners, users, communities and other organizations. Finally, it suggests that to promote innovation, companies should cultivate an environment with psychological safety where ideas and experiments are encouraged.
