2. How soon is AGI arriving?
Metaculus has recently
lowered prediction from 2057
to 2039 based on success of
large language models.
Precipitous decline in May
2022. 2039 is only 17
years from now, adds
urgency to our response.

3. On July 29, 2022, I became a
beta user for DALL-E the
OpenAI large language
model graphics program.
This is the story of my journey with
DALL-E these past 6 weeks, and how it
does with kidney pathology. This is not
a sad tale of machines completely
replacing graphic artists, and how you
can put in a text prompt and obtain any
image you want. The reality is almost
exactly the opposite of that. Every
prompt entry into DALL-E is a
negotiation. It is the best AI graphics
program because it has many rules to
4. You could imagine that there will come a
time when DALL-E is able to produce high
quality pathology images similar to the
Aperio images we show in our regular case
presentations at Nephropathology Rounds.
Perhaps in DALL-E3 or DALL-e4! Won’t that
be something!
5. The Big 24 Challenges of Humanity
Addressed with Collaborative Intelligence
The time is ripe for DeepMind to
address some of the messy
challenges of society and save
the human race. It would be nice
to influence which societal
problems DeepMind and their
competitors choose to address
and how.

Every subset of those twenty-four

whereas no human can wrap their
head around protein folding and
nuclear fusion, things Google
DeepMind AI has already solved.

students, plus 10+ new med faculty for CIHR
Equitable AI for Public Health Grant
Will add 6+ new medical faculty to existing team from Canada,
US, UK, Germany, Belgium, and Sweden, with one Indigenous
member and two people of colour. Fields include music,
regenerative architecture, medicine, AI human cooperation, the
arts, classics, diversity, equity and inclusion. Experience working
together on CIFAR grant - The Future of Being Human - and FOLI
World Build Competition. Made big things happen in the past.
We can do it again, in 24 areas! Starts with August 5th, 2022,
discussion at AI Seminar at University of Alberta.

Artificial General Intelligence

counter this AGI Ruin idea,
which is the worst outcome
imaginable.

12. NKF cyberNephrology and John
Davis
National Kidney Foundation CEO John Davis made the
program I lead NKF cyberNephrology a line item in the
NKF budget, said I should have that role “in perpetuity” .
But he did not like the Philippe Hebert art which I was
using as a theme. We found that out right before we had
a pivotal meeting with Microsoft in 2006!

17. One Story of Rebel Art
The Tale of
Philippe Hebert
(An interesting problem:
my natural story length
is too short, leaves the
reader wanting more,
more description of
context, more preamble
before main action, and
follow-up after. A nice
problem to have!)
18. Once upon a time there was a
website rebelartist.com
There I encountered artist
Philippe Hebert, bought
all his stuff on the site and
asked for more. Loved
the spicules, spike-like
extension of lines at
intersections. In 2003 site
was taken over by Jupiter
Images, and ceased to exist
except as a plaintive voice
at rebelartist.org saying..
www.rebelartist.org
jmbcreative@yahoo.com
a new light on the dark lies that effect
us all will soon be lit.....
19. One Story of Rebel Art
The Tale of
Philippe Hebert
In the summer of 2006
Philippe and I finally met.
He came to see me on his
bicycle while I was
visiting Montreal.
“Would you like to see
what I am doing now?”
he said. I was amazed!
The spicules were gone.
He said he was never
going back to them. The
art sold better without them.

31. One Story of Rebel Art
The Tale of
Philippe Hebert
So much intellectual
richness is lost when the
rebel spirit dies! The next
time you draw something
let the lines cross each
other, so whatever you are
drawing looks like a
porcupine. It is not the
answer to all of life's
problems, but it is at least
a start! Viva la spicules!
because as all the dynamic knowledge gained in the twenty-four projects accumulates it becomes impossible that sentient machines will propose something no human wants as the thousands of familiar counterarguments prevent that. The protection is robust and gets stronger every day as work on the twenty-four major projects continues.
Protein folding is forever in the realm of things machines understand but we do not. From Jan. 2018 to June 2019 Ishita Moghe and I successfully advocated for changes in online behavior re. AI. We can do it again here!
