Hodge Podge Church of Christ Goes GreenishDavid Srygley
This document discusses biblical values around self-sacrifice for others. It notes that while the command to have strong members of a church bear or support the weak seems simple, determining who is strong and who is weak can be complicated since everyone thinks they are strong. It argues that true strength comes not from beliefs but from a willingness to sacrifice one's own wants and desires for the benefit and growth of other members of the church family. The document encourages readers to follow Christ's example of complete self-sacrifice and asks if they will do the same for others.
Jealousy and envy are related but distinct emotions. Envy is wanting something that belongs to someone else, while jealousy refers to feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over a potential loss. The document examines jealousy in relationships and how it can destroy lives if left unchecked. It provides biblical passages that discuss jealousy and how to overcome it by knowing our self-worth comes from God, not other people or possessions. The key is slaying the "dragon" of jealousy through spiritual strength and recognizing we are more than conquerors through Christ.

Politics, Malaysia & A New Kind of HumanityAlwyn Lau
The document calls for a new kind of politics based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. It argues that as Christians, we are called to embody unconditional love, especially for our enemies, through peacemaking, forgiveness, patience, and kindness. This means rejecting violent means of conflict resolution, cursing or judging others, and instead focusing on transforming people through service, conversation and prayer. The kind of politics Christians should pursue is one that mirrors the kingdom of God by loving enemies, seeking unity over division, and treating all people with dignity.
Spartan soldiers originated from the city-state of Sparta in Greece, which emphasized a warrior culture over art and philosophy like Athens. Spartan male citizens underwent a rigorous military training from age 7 and had to pass a citizen test to prove their worth. Key ideals for Spartan soldiers included being efficient in battle, protecting their fellow soldiers, being selfless and never retreating from battle. Failing to return from war with their shield was considered shameful.
This document discusses how Christians should love their enemies. It notes that while some people become enemies for no reason, others oppose God's people because they hate the light. However, love will overcome evil and endure forever. The document outlines how love conquers through patience, kindness, truth, hope, and enduring all things without fear. It asserts that on judgment day, God will make all enemies subject to him, but until then Christians should strive to win souls to God through sharing the gospel message of Christ's love.

Worry Stress & Anxiety... What the Bible says about itSwordSharp Studios
The document discusses how to avoid worry, stress, and anxiety by seeking God first through prayer, reading scripture, pursuing righteousness, and trusting that God will provide for all needs. It explains that Jesus told his followers not to worry about basic necessities like food and clothing but to make God and his kingdom their top priority. When facing difficulties, believers are instructed to pray, read the Bible, do God's will, and have faith in his provision rather than prioritizing their problems.
Why does God allow Bad things to happen to Good people?SwordSharp Studios
God allows bad things to happen to good people for several reasons:
1) He gives humans free will to choose good or evil and holds them accountable for their actions, not preventing all bad acts.
2) The reasons for natural disasters or personal tragedies are not always known or understandable, as in the story of Job.
3) In some cases, like Jesus, bad things happened to fulfill God's purposes, such as bringing salvation.
4) While on earth, believers may face trials, but God promises eternal life without suffering for those who accept Christ.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

4. Answer: No Romans 13:1-4 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Is the Death Penalty Biblically Wrong?
5. Answer: No This assumes just leadership and deservedpunishment We know from Old Testament accounts that God will judge unjust andcorrupt leaders Is the Death Penalty Biblically Wrong?
6. Answer: No Even God’s Law has a death penalty for Law breakers We’ve allsinned as such and deserve eternal death That’s why we need Christ to pardon us Is the Death Penalty Wrong?
8. Commandment #6: Thou shalt not kill (Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 5:17) Is Killing in the Military Wrong?
9. In the original Hebrew “Kill” is: *Ratsach (raw-tsakh’) to dash in pieces, i.e. kill (a human being), especially to murder -- put to death, kill, (man-)slay(-er), murder(-er) Premeditated, unjust or illegalkilling (murder) is a sin Is Killing in the Military Wrong? *scripturetext.com
11. Killing enemies is the unfortunate byproduct of battle God Himself led the Israelites in battle (Deut. 20:1-4) So killingwhen necessary is justified during war, …but not murder Is Killing in the Military Wrong?
12. Examples of possible murder in the military: An enemy with no possible way to attack surrenders, but instead of being captured he is killed in anger Innocent civilians of the opposing side are killed out of bitterness and resentment Torturing to death a captured enemy that was ordered to die by lethal injection Killing as a result of taking the law into one’s own hands Is Killing in the Military Wrong?
13. Those who must kill in battle are biblically justified because they are: submitting to their governing authorities executing the punishment of their divinely placed ruler Is Killing in the Military Wrong? Note: This does NOT apply when rulers make orders in direct opposition to God or His Word
