Kalindi International is an Indian company that facilitates imports of coal and trades in metals and minerals. It was founded by Hari Shankar Goenka who has experience in coal mining. Kalindi is led by Hari Shankar Goenka, a
coal miner by birth till nationalization in
1972. Victory Colliery, owned by the
Goenka family in Ranigunj, used to
produce 50,000 MT per month in
underground mining operations, which
was sold to DESU, UPSEB, WBSEB, the
Indian Railways, and various cement/
paper plants.
Kalindi is also into selling hi-tech products
like Diesel Pre-filters, Air Precleaners &
Diesel Conditioners required for HEEM’s to
enhance life of Diesel Engines and
Compressors.
Kalindi is trying to tie-up with DUST
REPRESSION systems for mines to ensure
a dust free environment at mines and in
stacks.

Calzini Fashions Ltd [a sister company]
owned by the Goenka group, is the
country’s largest manufacturer of knitted
socks retailed under its own brands
‘Calzini’ and other licenced brands - Arrow,
Hush Puppies [Both from USA]. Calzini
Socks & Handkerchiefs is retailed across
the country in over 5000 shops. Calzini is
present across all formats Hyper Stores,
Modern E commerce formats, Cash &
Carry formats & Mom & Pop Stores.

5. FIRM TIE-UPS OF
MINING RESOURCES
Kalindi has tied up with reputed Miners in
Indonesia, America & South Africa to offer
a bouquet of good-quality coal.
The essence of these tie-ups is that each
Miner selected is good, professional, and
established, who can deliver the right
quality over the contracted periods as per
the agreed dispatch schedules.
BUSINESSES PROCURED
In the very short span of our existence, we
have successfully completed a firm tie-up
between Lalitpur Power Generation
Company Limited [Bajaj Group] with PT
Kresna Inti Cipta & CV Bhara Rosa Energi
Coal [Indonesian miners] for supply of 8
million tons per annum of steam coal

6. 4200-4000 GCV from 2014 onwards for a
period of 15 years. This deal was
facilitated by HS Goenka whilst he was a
Partner in Amrit International Ltd.
We are negotiating a 15 year long term
contract with Orgakom Milindo GmbH and
Imperial AGPCL Power Limited for supply
of 300,000 TPA of Indonesian Coal from
2014.
Kalindi is registered as a Coal Vendor with
Ultratech Cement Ltd, Binani Cements
Ltd, Jaiprakash Associates Ltd, JK
Cements Ltd, India Cements Ltd, Shree
Cements Ltd, NIRMA Ltd, NALCO Ltd,
Uttam Galva, etc etc. Further registrations
are in the process.
VIEWS ON COALFUTURE
Kalindi is of the view that in the years to
come a gradual shift from low-grade coal to

7. high-grade coal, even with high-sulphur,
will happen. Limestone is plentifully
available in India which can absorb the
Sulphur.
Cement industry is already using Petcoke
with sulphur content of 4.5% & above in
large quantities and, therefore, the shift to
higher calorific coals with high-sulphur is
likely.
Kalindi is in the process of tying up long-
term sources for Petcoke in USA, apart
from high-calorific coal with high-sulphur
(up to 3.5%).
COMPANY’s PHILOSOPHY
Kalindi shall strive to meet the customers’
requirements and source only from proven
resources.
Kalindi shall also try to reduce foreign
exchange outgo by promoting high-

8. sulphur, high-calorific coal in place of low-
sulphur, low-calorific coal. By blending
high sulphur coal with abundantly
available lime-stone, not only cost per kcal
but sulphur pollution will be contained.
KALINDI’s foray into
Metals / Minerals / Scrap
Recently with our close contacts with a few
buyers and sellers [who offer coal as well],
we have ventured into METAL / MINERAL
trading facilitation.
We are trying to enter into:
Copper Ore
We have almost concluded a contract for
Copper Ore for 20,000 TPM from Brazil
with a large multinational trading house.
Iron Ore

9. We are on the verge of completing a
contract for 60,000 TPM Iron Ore from
India to China.
Managanese Ore
We have entered into a firm tie-up with an
upcoming Mine at Philippines for 50%
Reject Mn Ore. Production is slated from
August 2013
