The first capital of  Lithuania was  Kernavė
Kernavė  was the  Capital of Lithuania  from  1269  to  1281
Kernavė  was  the  medieval  capi tal  of the  Grand Duchy  of Lithuania  and today  it  is a  place of  tourist ’s  attraction .

Celebrations and  folk festivals  are organized  in Kernave during summer time .
Kernavė  is also famous for its traditional Rasa festivals. As early as 1967 a group of university students held the very first Rasa festival, which later became a tradition.
Kernavė  is famous for national celebrations of Mindaugas coronation day on 6 July. On   that day a festival is held, where medieval  authentic crafts,  war games and  folk music  are presented.
In this day t he craftsmen come from  all Lithuania  and neighboring countries.
Kernavė   c hurch  is  built in 1920 .
The  Kernavė  Primary School, is  a two-story building built in 1929.  In  1930, the  t eacher J. Šiaučiūnas opened the first exhibition of the museum  here .
R iver Neris  is  near  Kernavė .
