Kernavė was the first and medieval capital of Lithuania from 1269 to 1281. It is now a popular tourist destination where celebrations and folk festivals are held in the summer. Kernavė is especially known for its traditional Rasa festivals and celebrations of Mindaugas' coronation on July 6th, which feature medieval crafts, games, and music. The picturesque town of Kernavė is located near the River Neris and offers views of the Pajauta valley.
