Part 1: Foundations of Holistic Process OptimizationGappBridging
This document discusses holistic process optimization and the PCDM method. It provides an overview of GappBridging, which helps organizations improve business processes. Effective process optimization requires management commitment, effective methods, coordination between units, and cooperation between IT and business units. The PCDM method is presented as an effective visual modeling technique using picture cards to collaboratively map "As-Is" and "To-Be" processes. Various PCDM modules are outlined for different stages of process management.
The document discusses the process of transformation and how organizations can achieve it. It notes that transformation ultimately comes down to changing business processes. Some common factors that enable transformation include designing customer experiences, improving productivity, capitalizing on information ubiquity, digitalizing execution, optimizing technology usage, and reimagining business models. Roadblocks to transformation include focusing on the wrong problems and conducting a narrow search. The document recommends reframing problems, widening searches, and transforming processes to remove these roadblocks and achieve transformation by making process management and improvement an organization's best performing processes.
APO, Inc. provides optimization services including Lean, Six Sigma, and data analysis tools to eliminate waste, reduce variation, and model processes. Their services include waste elimination, statistical process modeling with 2D and 3D animation, and quantitative data mining techniques like logistic regression, decision trees, and neural networks.
This document summarizes an optimization process for telecom expenditures that involves ongoing discovery, analysis, implementation, and auditing. It recommends analyzing billing against inventory, presenting findings and recommendations, implementing recommendations, and validating savings quarterly. The process incurs no up-front costs for clients, uses no internal resources, and allows clients to control the process and make the final decision. Most clients experience savings through this process.
Practical Advanced Process Control for Engineers and TechniciansLiving Online
In today's environment, the processing, refining and petrochemical business is becoming more and more competitive and every plant manager is looking for the best quality products at minimum operating and investment costs. The traditional PID loop is used frequently for much of the process control requirements of a typical plant. However there are many drawbacks in using these, including excessive dead time which can make the PID loop very difficult (or indeed impossible) to apply.
Advanced Process Control (APC) is thus essential today in the modern plant. Small differences in process parameters can have large effects on profitability; get it right and profits continue to grow; get it wrong and there are major losses. Many applications of APC have pay back times well below one year. APC does require a detailed knowledge of the plant to design a working system and continual follow up along the life of the plant to ensure it is working optimally. Considerable attention also needs to be given to the interface to the operators to ensure that they can apply these new technologies effectively as well.

The document summarizes key aspects of strategic management and the strategic management process. It discusses how strategic management helps firms succeed by choosing strategies to attain superior performance. The strategic management process involves defining a mission and goals, analyzing external opportunities/threats and internal strengths/weaknesses, selecting strategies, and implementing and adjusting strategies over time based on feedback. It also discusses various levels of strategies, such as business, functional, global, and corporate strategies.
Development of body structure concepts for electric vehicles using the topolo...Altair
By the strict discussions regarding energy saving and the goal to reduce CO2, there is a keen demand for light designed automotive structures and the development of electric vehicles. To achieve these goals, a comprehensive method for urban vehicle concepts with electric powertrain and their necessary vehicle structures is presented. The dimensions and packaging of the presented vehicle is based on demands of a future urban vehicle with space for four occupants including baggage, steerable front system wheels and a rear axle including an electric powertrain. In the geometric design phase of the method the vehicle design space is analyzed for global load path with the help of topology optimization (OptiStruct). The load paths are then clustered into different shapes. Concepts for new body in white structures are derived from the results.
