KDE Standards (Kindergarten) Reference Sheet for Lesson Planning
    STANDARDS                                                            READING
                     Concepts of print:
                               Recognize own name
                               Understand directionality-track print-front to back of book, top to bottom of page, left to
                                right on line, return sweep- back left for next line
                               Understand that print provides information
                               Distinguish between letters, words and sentences
                               Match oral and written words
                               Distinguish between upper and lowercase letters
                               Understand correct book handling
                               Find key parts of a book (text features-front and back cover, title page, spine, etc)
                     Phonemic Awareness
                               Recognize and produce rhyming words
                               Identify a word
                               Track each word in a spoken sentence(clap or use paper to push up as each word is read)
                               Recognize and produce words beginning with the same sound
                               Identify and isolate initial, final and medial sounds in spoken words

WR-E-1.1.0           Writing has a purpose-we use it to communicate through telling a story, evoking an image (draw)
                               write to a specific audience
                               write about a life event or relationship
                               engage in interactive writing
WR-E-1.2.0           Develop a story line (beginning/middle/end)
WR-E-2.3.0           Recognize that ideas are communicated in a logical order
                     Arrange ideas in a logical order through interactive writing/modeled
WR-E-2.4.0           Write letters to form words and words to form simple sentences

MA-EP-1.1.1                    Count read and write whole numbers 0 to 50
                               Develop an understanding of place value for ones and tens
                               Develop beginning fractional concepts (whole/half)
                               Count one to one correspondence to 20
MA-EP-1.1.2          Order groups by quantity(more, less, same/equal)
MA-EP-1.1.3a         Begin to identify and explore odd and even numbers
MA-EP-1.2.1          Explore appropriate estimation procedures
MA-EP-1.3.1                    Develop an understanding of addition and subtraction using whole numbers (0-10)using
                                physical objects and concrete materials
                               Skip counting by 10s to 100, 2s to 20, 5s to 50 and backwards by 1s from 10
MA-EP-1.5.2a         Use physical objects to understand communicative property (turn around facts/fact families) of
                     addition to 10 (2+3=3+2)and explore zero property of addition to 10 (0+1=1)
MA-EP-2.1.1d         Explores non standard measurement tools (cubes, string etc.)
                     Estimate and explore relative weight (heavier than/lighter than)
                     Identifies coins (penny nickel, dime, quarter) recognizes dollar value of coins, process of “trading up”
                     Tells time to the hour and half hour
                     Uses calendar concepts (day, week, month, year; 7 days +week etc.)
MA-EP-3.1.1          Use geometric terms when describing shapes (side, corner)
MA-EP-3.1.2          Identify, describe, and provide examples of 2D geometric figures (circle, square, rectangle, triangle,
                     rhombus, oval) and apply to real world math problems.
MA-EP-3.1.3          Identify, describe and provide examples of 3D geometric figures (sphere, cone, cylinder, pyramid,
                     cube) and apply to real world math problems
MA-EP-4.1.1          Explore simple graphs (pictographs, charts, bar graphs, circle graphs, tally tables, Venn diagram)
MA-EP-4.2.1a         Organize and display data (using pictographs)
MA-EP-5.1.1          Explore and recognize two and three part patterns
MA-EP-5.3.1          Explore real world situations with simple number sentences. (draw, write or oral representation)
STANDARDS                                                              SCIENCE
SC-EP-1.1.1          Classify and sort objects according to physical properties (color, shape, size)
SC-EP-1.1.2          Use senses to observe and describe objects
SC-EP-1.1.3          Understand that matter exists as a solid and a liquid and how it can change between the two states
SC-EP-1.2.2          Describe positions and locations of objects
SC-EP-2.3.1          Use scientific tools to observe earth materials (rock, soil, air, water)
SC-EP-2.3.2          Observe weather conditions and record data over time (seasonal patterns and temperature)
SC-EP-3.4.1          Explain that most living things need water air and food in order to survive
SC-EP-3.4.2          Distinguish between living and non living things
SC-EP-3.4.4          Observe different animal and plant life cycles (pumpkins, butterflies, apples, beans)
SC-EP-4.6.1          Ask questions that can be investigated, plan and conduct fair tests and communicate findings

SS-EP-3.1.1          Identify basic resources needed to live ( food, clothing, water)
SS-EP-4.4.1          Identify how Early Americans changed their physical surroundings to meet their basic physical needs)
