Kalinga Commercial Corporation Limited is a leading raising & excavation solution provider cum
transporter in the mining & logistics sector of Orissa. Kalinga Commercial Corporation Limited is
an acronym in the name of Kalinga Commercial Corporation formed in 1992 by the managing
director cum Chairman Mr. Soumya Ranjan Samal.
The organization was started as a transporting company mainly serving the Govt. sector e.g. FCI
(Food Corporation of India), D.SW.O. (District Social Welfare Officer) & OMC (Orissa Mining
Corporation Limited). Later the company moved into mining sector in the year 2003-04.
Over the years company has executed a wide range of projects & orders from various segments
covering all aspect of the market demand. The independence is the cornerstone of the KCCL
business.
The mining industry is the nucleus of KCCL business. From the core activity the company
engages in wide range of segments like minerals trading (iron ore export), infrastructure
development (civil works) in mining area through multi disciplinary team of experts.
Incorporated in 1992, the company focuses on three distinct segments mining
& raising, transportation & logistics solutions, & exports of iron ore

CORPORATE HISTORY
KALINGA COMMERCIAL CORPORATION LIMITED (KCCL) started its business in the year
1991 as KALINGA COMMERCIAL CORPORATION, Proprietorship entity fully owned by Mr.
Soumya Ranjan Samal. Initially KCC was involved in construction activities. Gradually KCC
ventured into Transportation sector. Being involved in Transportation sector for a long time, the
firm started venturing into other avenues. As there is an upsurge in Iron & Steel sector the firm
didn’t waste time to stamp his authority in this segment. Since 2005 the company is involved in
mechanized raising and transportation of mines. KCC have been awarded mining contract from
Orissa Mining Corporation, owned by Government of Orissa, for raising, excavation and
transportation of minerals from their various mines. Company’s current activities include
transportation, mining and rising of minerals and trading of mineral products.
Considering the business environment and need of the time, the corporate structure of the firm
was converted to Limited Company on the year 2009 as KALINGA COMMERCIAL
CORPORATION LIMITED (KCCL).

Soumya Ranjan Samal
Mr. Soumya Ranjan Samal, aged 42 years is a graduate from Utkal University and has a vast
experience of 30 years. He started his career with his own business of transportation & order
supply for different govt. & Pvt. Sector Organization. Over the time he gained extensive ground
knowledge in construction & mining industry and has a reputation with various Clienteles for the
timely and quality execution of works. With the technical and administrative capabilities he started
a separate firm to execute various mining & civil works related to mining works in the year 1991.
Since its inception the firm has undertaken and completed various contracts in the infrastructure
sector like excavation and raising of minerals, construction of roads, buildings and other civil
structures in the mines area and is now also executing infrastructure development work (civil
work)contracts on a full swing. By 2005-06 under the leadership of Mr. Soumya Ranjan Samal the
firm entered into various segments of mining works in the mining industry and executed various
projects in Orissa.
Archana Samal
Mrs. Archana Samal is the wife of Mr. Soumya Ranjan Samal having qualification of Graduation &
P.G.D.C.A is associated with the company since its inception. Her sharp business sense &
practical approach towards handling business segments and its problem has let her become the
Promoter Director in the current scenario. She has an experience of more than 15 years in the
associated business sectors.
Manoj Ranjan Samal
Mr. Manoj Ranjan Samal having qualification of M.Com has been associated with Kalinga
Commercial Corporation Limited since its inception. He has a business experience of 20 years
& possesses an excellent quality to handle the business across various segments with innovative
way & modern approach. He is also the managing director of the company.

Jadu Nandan Samal
Mr. Jadunandan Samal is a Retd. Chief engineer from the PWD department of Govt. of Orissa. By
qualification he is an M.Tech. Engineer with more than 30 years of experience in the irrigation
sector. He has joined Kalinga Commercial Corporation in the year 2003 for execution of several
irrigation related work in the in the mining area.
Debashis Thamba
Mr. Debashis Thamba is the father of Mrs. Archana Samal & originally belongs to Anugul district
of Orissa. He is a graduate from Utkal University & has more than 15 years of business
experience. He has been associated with Kalinga Commercial Corporation since last 15 years
Madan Mohan Swain
Mr. Madan Mohan swain is a Retd. Superintendent Director. An M.Tech engineer having wide
range of industry experience has joined Kalinga Commercial Corporation in the year 2005.
Since then he became an active member of managing committee & helped KCCL to reap the
benefit from his vast experience from the industry exposure.
Achyutanand Kundu
Mr. Achyutanand Kundu is a Retd. Additional director having vast industry exposure & experience
of more than 20 years. Post retirement he joined Kalinga Commercial Corporation Limited as a
member of the management committee.

BUSINESS VERTICAL: Excavation & Raising of minerals
Kalinga Commercial Corporation Limited has entered into the business of iron ore mining in the
year 2004-05 with a production of 4.2 Lakh MT. Of iron ore. During the last financial year 2008-09
KCCL has achieved a production of 54 Lakhs MT. Of iron ore & in the current financial year has
planned to achieve 69 Lakhs MT. Of processed iron ore. Kccl also negotiating with ORISSA
MINING CORPORATIO LIMITED to enter into other minerals handling & excavation assignments.
In the raising & excavation verticals the first project under which KCCL has started its mining &
excavation operation is Kurmitar iron ore mines, khandadhar at sundergarh district belonging to
OMCL (Orissa Mining Corporation Limited) a wholly owned subsidiary of Govt. of Orissa. Against
a production target of 4.2 Lakhs M.T., KCCL achieved a production of 9.4 Lakhs M.T followed by
production of 10.2 Lakhs M.T in the next year. This phenomenal success could be achieved at a
site where the previous firms made a huge loss and lost their Earnest Money. KCCL’s
achievement was appreciated by OMCL through a public felicitation at Rabindra Mandap, in
Bhubaneswar.

Highly satisfied with company’s performance at Khandadhar, OMC was too pleased to award
another mega contract at their Hill-top mines in (Gadhamardan, Keonjhar District) with a annual
target of 5 lakhs M.T. As against this KCCL has already achieved a production of 7.2 Lakhs M.T.
This figure was achieved in spite of all odds and difficulties faced from forest, environment,
communication, day time road restrictition.
Then gradually with the passage of time KCCL has got continuous contract for mines of OMCL at
different location like Daitari iron ore mines in Jajpur district, Bhadrasai iron ore mines in roida.

BUSINESS VERTICAL: Logistics & supply chain solution
KCCL transport potential is well recognized by Food Corporation of India & Govt. of Orissa, under
W & CD Deptt. and Orissa mining corporation limited, Orissa. KCCL deals with OMC Limited for
transportation of iron ore & the work includes loading the ores to the tippers/dumpers &
transportation of these material to their specified yards as desired by the party. Apart from OMC
Limited & FCI Kalinga Commercial Corporation Limited also deals with district social welfare
officer for transportation of food grains to different location like kandhamal, keonjhar, phulbani,
district under mid day meal programme, special nutrion programme as run jointly by the state &
centre government from time to time. The work includes unloading & loading of food grains bags
from/ into railway wagons, trucks etc. & stacking the food grains in bags, bagging, weighment,
standardization, cleaning of food grains etc.
It also includes transportation of food grains from railway station to corporation godown or vice
versa or transporting them from any place to any other place in and around.

BUSINESS VERTICAL: Minerals trading (Export of iron ore)
Kalinga Commercial Corporation Limited has entered into the export segment in the year 2008-09.
The company does its exports from two ports e.g. Vizag & Paradeep. From Vizag port KCCL is
doing direct export & from Paradeep port it’s operating with the help of third party. The company
has earned a considerable & noticeable turnover since from the beginning & expected to achieve
a turnover of 106 Crore in the year ending 2009-10. The turnover achieved year wise can be seen

BUSINESS VERTICAL: Infrastructure development (civil works)
KCCL has been engaged in the civil work in the mining area since last 2 years. Since the
company has the latest equipment, manpower, technology & overall surplus resources &
knowledge of the mining area so the management has decided to enter into this segment. In the
last two years the company has done considerable work in different location of Sundergarh
District. The work includes construction of statuary building, guest house, Children Park,
renovation of existing guest house, renovation of canteen building, & water supply system to OMC
colony at Khandhar in Sundergarh District.
