WHAT is a social network?
A social network is comprised of
nodes—people within the
network, and edges—which are
the relationships that connect
them. Social Network Analysis is
the process that maps and
measures it.
5. @KCconnector
WHAT are Connectors
CONNECTORS ARE PEOPLE IN NETWORK POSITIONS OF INFLUENCE.
An individual’s influence is
often the result of their
position in a network. In
other words, “we may be
created equal, but we are
not connected equally.”
6. @KCconnector
WHY: The Project aims to…
…build a trusted collaborative network by
better connecting communities in the greater
Kansas City area.
…identify and celebrate unsung heroes, who
may work below the radar to get things done!

HOW to Find a Community Network
•
STEP 1: SOLICIT NOMINATIONS
STEP 2: MAP THE ECOSYSTEM
• Convene connectors in a public recognition ceremony.
• Connectors and civic leaders decide/develop next steps.
STEP 3: PROJECT OUTCOMES
SNA: Process of investigating organizations or cultures as networks of interconnected entities or actors
Network diagrams characterize the entities as nodes; and relationships between them as lines or edges
connect communities, why?: info moves fast through those networks, than siloed institutions. It draws the community together; network lift, a kick in output, productivity, economic growth (acceleration of the existing ecosystem).
