Success in distributed learning depends on faculty adoption and readiness. Faculty need assistance learning new technologies for distance education. Effective faculty development programs address both technology skills and pedagogical understanding. Faculty development can be provided through centralized or decentralized support models. Training should cover both tools and best practices, and involve peer learning, examples, and working with early adopters. Flexible scheduling and limiting early exposure to technologies are important lessons learned.
This document provides a summary of a project to develop a distance learning design and model for the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS). Key points:
1. The project was funded to address distance education needs across the NCCCS and involved developing training materials, models, resources and marketing.
2. A needs assessment survey found most faculty and staff want distance education training and prefer training on developing internet-based courses.
3. The report outlines training modules on basic and advanced internet skills and using the internet for instruction to prepare faculty to develop and teach online courses.

This document provides information about fibromyalgia including its definition, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. Fibromyalgia is defined as a chronic pain condition characterized by widespread muscle aches, pain and tenderness in at least 11 of 18 tender points. It predominantly affects women and has no known cause but may involve abnormalities in how the brain processes pain signals. Treatment involves lifestyle modifications like exercise, stress management and adequate sleep, along with medications to reduce pain and improve symptoms. While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, treatment can help manage symptoms and many people are able to lead active lives.
This document provides an overview of economic impact analysis. It defines economic impact analysis as estimating how spending associated with an event, project, or industry flows through a regional economy. It discusses the basic structure of input-output models, including direct, indirect and induced effects. It also covers assumptions of economic impact analysis and considerations like defining the direct effect, gross versus net impacts, and timing. The document provides examples of economic impact analyses of sporting events, ports, and biofuel plants to illustrate key concepts.
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) refers to medical systems and practices that are not part of conventional medicine. Around 40% of adults in the United States report using some form of CAM. Common reasons for using CAM include dissatisfaction with conventional medicine, a preference for natural treatments, and a focus on overall wellness rather than just disease treatment. Physicians should be knowledgeable about CAM practices their patients may use, as some can interact harmfully with conventional treatments or be dangerous if used incorrectly. The document outlines various CAM modalities like herbal supplements, acupuncture, yoga and traditional medical systems; discusses integrated medicine approaches; and emphasizes the importance of physicians maintaining open and non-judgmental discussions with patients about all treatment options.

This document discusses medicinal plants and their use as traditional medicines. It notes that medicinal plants have properties similar to conventional drugs and have been used for thousands of years. Some key points made include that 80% of the world's population uses plants as their primary medicine source, and many modern drugs were developed from plant-based compounds, including aspirin, opium, and quinine. The document also provides examples of plants commonly used in traditional medicines from different regions and their therapeutic effects.
- Complementary and alternative therapies (CAT) are increasingly being used by patients to promote health and healing, and nurses should be knowledgeable about common CAT approaches. CAT includes whole medical systems like Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine, mind-body therapies such as relaxation and guided imagery, energy-based practices, herbal remedies, and body-based techniques like massage and chiropractic. While CAT can provide benefits, nurses must also be aware of potential herb-drug interactions and safe use of different therapies.

2. Over Kasia Mitan
Cyclus beweging “waar iets
eindigt begint iets nieuws”- constant verandering
en oneindigheid. De essentiële eenheid van het
bestaan.
heen.
rationeel.
4. tekeningen
• Haar manier van tekenen is zeer typerend ,
niet alleen door de combinatie van abstracte
en figuratieve elementen, maar ook door de
fijnzinnigheid en romantisch sfeer – ze zijn wel
getypeerd als ‘’.kwetbaar en fraazel, sierlijke,
subtiele, mooi gevormde, voorbijgaande aard,
gevoelig, breekbaar.
