Rising Star Outreach expanded its operations to Trichy, India to provide economic, medical, and educational programs to additional colonies in need. The organization saw success with its students passing important exams and its first graduating class. A new health center was dedicated on campus to care for students. Sanitation improvements and annual sports day events were also noted. The organization received recognition for its work and continues to rely on volunteers and donors to further its mission of serving those affected by leprosy.

RISING STAR OUTREACH EXPANDS INTO TRICHY
Rising Star Outreach is excited to announce as of June 1st an expansion office has
been set up in Trichy. Trichy is located five hours south of the Rising Star
Outreach Campus and includes ten additional colonies that will be aided by all
three pillars of our mission. Economic Rehabilitation, Medical and Education
programs will be utilized to lift those in the colonies.
Intense need in these colonies has prompted the expansion. We are excited to
see the work move into these locations using the methods that have brought so
much hope to those in the outer Chennai area.

Currently Rising Star Outreach has eleven regularly visited colonies and six
extension colonies. We are currently serving a population of over 2,500 people,
over 900 families and over 800 patients affected by leprosy.
2013-2014 10th STANDARD STUDENTS PASS EXAMS
All ten of this year’s Tenth Standard students successfully passed their critical exams and are preparing to advance into Eleventh
Standard and continue their educations. Recently all ten students were accepted into St. John’s Academy which is a top rated
international school in Chennai. They will be attending with the 12th Standard girls that have already completed one year at St.
John’s. The top three students were Krishnamoorthy, Papitha and Joseph. Congratulations to the students, past volunteers that
tutored and sponsors that help pay for their education. Together we are seeing great success!
FIRST GRADUATING CLASS
Congratulations to our first class of graduating students! Five Rising Star Outreach students recently completed their
Twelfth Standard educations at Blessings School. Two will be starting advanced educational programs right away while the
other three continue working on their promising future plans.
KIKINDIA HEALTH CENTER FOR RISING STARS DEDICATED
A beautiful new building was dedicated on campus this March 2014
for the medical and dental care of students. This health center is also
used as a home base for local mobile medical clinic supplies.
Kiki Reijner, from the Netherlands, is the founder of Kikindia. She
heard about Rising Star Outreach, was impressed with the mission of
the organization and offered to assist the children at Rising Star
Outreach. She and many donors from her country raised the funds to
build the Kikindia Heath Center for Rising Stars. The health center will
be used to maintain the health of students. Sleeping areas for boys
and girls are designated for students that are sick and need
additional attention through the night. It is also used for routine
medical and dental checkups. We are grateful for the additional
support this building will provide to our students.

2. NECESSARY TOILETS IN THE COLONIES
2013-2014 ANNUAL SPORTS DAY
This January on the Rising Star Outreach campus students, teachers and guests
participated in the Peery Matriculation School Sports Day. It took countless hours to
organize and prepare this exciting event where the students showed their skills
27 toilets were renovated and 10 new toilets were built in several colonies this
year. These toilets provide much needed clean sanitation and convenience for
those living in the colonies. Recipients are grateful for this blessing.

members as they congratulated each other after the events. By the end of the games, the winning points were tallied and the Ruby
House was the victor.
WISH LIST REPORT
This past holiday season many of you supported those in need through our online wish list. Through your
support, we were able to raise funds for four micro grant sewing machine businesses, 22 micro grant goat
businesses, and over $600 for new library books for the campus library. We were able to raise $300 in
mobility devices that will help those in need of shoes, tricycles, canes and prosthetics. The smallest
donations make an impact. One custom pair of shoes is about five dollars and provides protection from cuts
and injuries that could result in ulcers and infections.
Clothing, blankets, flashlights and nutrition drinks were also given. We are grateful for your support and love
you show to those in need. We are able to do so much good with you as our partner.

made in the name of a loved one for a birthday or other special occasion.
NEHRU AWARD RECEIVED BY RISING STAR OUTREACH OF INDIA
Rising Star Outreach of India won the Jawaharlal Nehru Award for service to children. This is an annual and
prestigious award given during the annual Children's Day Celebration. Congratulations to our staff in India for
this remarkable achievement!
5TH ANNUAL SHAWN BRADLEY GOLF TOURNAMENT
This is the 5th Shawn Bradley Golf Tournament for Rising Star Outreach and we are pulling out
all the stops. Join former NBA basketball star and humanitarian Shawn Bradley for competition,
food, prizes and more on September 16th, 2014 at the beautiful Red Ledges Golf Course in
Heber, Utah.

3. GOALS FOR GIRLS
LIVE BELOW THE LINE
This April and May Rising Star Outreach participated in the global campaign called Live Below the Line. This campaign is to help bring
awareness to extreme poverty. Poverty limits options, education, health and dignity. There are over 1.2 billion people living under
$1.50 per day. We asked supporters of Rising Star Outreach to join us in eating and drinking on a budget of $1.50 per day for one
week. One family, the Hobi family took this challenge and recorded their thoughts and experiences. We hope you are able to go

"These girls made me feel empowered and admired, especially while
playing soccer. I didn’t realize how much we could make a difference in
these girls’ lives through just playing soccer." --Lauren
Goals for Girls is a nonprofit organization that teaches
self-confidence and life lessons through soccer. They
volunteered their time and traveled to India just days
after Christmas to run a soccer camp on campus
before all the students returned from holiday break.
Seventeen of the Rising Star aoutreach students
returned to school early to participate in the program.
They joined ten girls from North Carolina and seven
from Oregon. They even had two time Olympic Gold
Medalist Cindy Parlow as a coach.
Activities for all girls included New Year’s celebration, soccer camps, community service projects including medical in the colonies,
goal writing and even a soccer match with the boy’s team from Pathway. The match ended with a win for the girls, which was
another confidence booster.
Volunteer in India!
The power of one has been proven over and over in the volunteer program. Families and individuals are welcome to
experience India through year round sessions. We encourage you to participate in this life changing activity.

Prem Joseph, an employee of Marriott in India, traveled over
6,900 kilometers and visited 22 Marriotts throughout India. Not
only did he do this and remained safe through complicated
traffic, but he did it riding a motorcycle. Prem Joseph made this
drive on his holiday, away from his family to raise money for
Rising Star Outreach. As riders roared through the Rising Star
Outreach campus, we enthusiastically welcomed Prem and his
friends. Prem was able to raise $14,000 through his ride! Not
only was he able to raise funds but he raised awareness all over
the globe, from India to England and all the way to the United
States. We are blessed for his safety and belief in one person
having the ability to change the world.
