MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
While I’m sure someone famous once said this, I heard it from a friend a
long time ago, “the only constant thing in life is change.” I’m happy and
privileged to serve as MoCDA’s president for the 2015-2016 term and look
forward to a year of consistency as well as change within our organization.
Our members can continue to look forward some of the great things our
organization provides, at least two roundtables and two webinars each year,
a spring conference, and frequent newsletters from our organization. This is
a core part of our organization and we look forward to continuing to honor
MoCDA’s mission.
However, life does change and part of our board’s job is to help our
organization adapt to that change. Some of the recent accomplishments
and changes in MoCDA are:
 The publishing of our Membership Directory found on our website
once you log in
 Installation of our Volunteer Recognition Program
 Summer Professional Development: Finding Employment that
Works for Individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome
 Welcoming new board members to MoCDA – we’re looking
forward to their contributions and insight
 Strengthening our partnership with the American Counseling
Association of Missouri
 Formalizing our process of writing and documenting progress
towards our goals each year
I am excited about our new initiatives, while continuing to promote an
organization dedicated to our members and mission. I invite you to
communicate with me if you have any questions, ideas, would like to
discuss serving on one of our committees, or suggestions on further ideas
or initiatives to further our organization. I can be reached at
cjohn169@slu.edu.
I’d like to thank our board members for 2014-2015: Kristin Harrington,
Ellen Nickrent, Kristen Wellinghoff, Reyhan Filiz, Jenny Hahn Schnipper,
and Melody Kruzic, and current past-president, Marcie Schumert. These
dedicated individuals were a great asset to our organization and truly
helped us continue to define MoCDA’s direction. They certainly helped me
feel more comfortable stepping into the President-Elect role and showed me
what it means to serve our organization. Thank you all for your service and
guidance.
I wish you all a happy and successful start to your summer!

NCDA CAREER
CONVERGENCE
Last month, one of our
Past-Presidents, Melody
Kruzic and her co-worker
Nona Haller, had an
article published in the
National Career
Development Association
journal, Career
Convergence. The article
is entitled “Reimagining
Career Services Online”
and does a great job of
describing how career
professionals can provide
their services in an online
format. Congratulations to
Melody and Nona!
Also, MoCDA was
mentioned in the current
Career Convergence
journal for receiving
recognition in 2015 as an
outstanding state division,
along with the Colorado
Career Development
Association. “They show
the exemplary activities
that all state career
development associations
may want to model.” See
the full article for more
details. Congrats MoCDA!
