Ever since I could remember, lyrics made me act and feel in certa.docxSANSKAR20
Ever since I could remember, lyrics made me act and feel in certain ways such as smirk and bop my head, move my entire body, smile, sing, and go even deeper such as recalling the past, or look forward towards the future, especially when it came to love, and make my either cry tears of joy or sadness. Interestingly, I never paid attention if lyrics had effects on me such attempting to live a lifestyle similar to the artist’s lyrics, or changing my mannerism towards people in life outside the music. My only rationale was “if I like it I’ll listen to it.”
It wasn’t until college, that I’ve learned about rhetoric and how it can affect people’s actions and beliefs. According to Aristoteles’s rhetoric, good rhetoric has three components to it: ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos is an appeal to ethics, and it is a means of convincing someone of the character or credibility of the persuader. Pathos is an appeal to emotion, and is a way of convincing an audience of an argument by creating an emotional response. Logos is an appeal to logic, and is a way of persuading an audience by reason.
In the first part of this this text, I will conduct a rhetorical analysis of the lyrics of T-Pain’s “I’m N Luv wit A Stripper,” show how T-Pain effectively uses ethos pathos and logos in his song, and compare and contrast the effectiveness, and destructiveness of the lyrics through Cultivation theory. Cultivation theory. examines the long-term effects of television. "The primary proposition of cultivation theory states that the more time people spend 'living' in the television world, the more likely they are to believe social reality portrayed on television."
First, some descriptions for terminology need to be explained. The first definition to be described in order to support the claims made in this text is the word lyrics. In a dictionary, lyrics has about 8 entries that defines lyrics. Unfortunately, rhetoric is not mentioned in any of the entries at it may be assumed that lyrics are rhetoric. For our understanding lyrics equal rhetoric. Out of the 8 entries, 2 will be used. First, lyrics will be correlated with them being the poets own thoughts and feelings. Second, a lyric is a poem.
What authority does T-Pain have to establish that his lyrics should be taken seriously when singing “I’m ‘n Luv wit (A Stripper)”? T-Pain has been in the music industry since 2004. Yet, the release of his song was on December 13, 2005, almost a year after he began his career. As of 2016, he is 31 years old, meaning that in 2005, he was 20-21 years old. As far as age, his authority can be questioned since no one really knows if he has charisma to seduce women especially those in the exotic industry. What gives him authority in his field, is that he is known to be the pioneer behind “auto tuned” music, and this song topped #5 out of 100 in 2005.
Next, there needs to be an understanding of the emotions that T-Pain was targeting through lyrics to convince his audience that his lifes ...

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

July Song Blog 2016
1. Good day everyone! It´s time again for to examine another song and hopefully learn some more
English. So far we have looked at a hit from the 60s and the 70s (A hit is a song that sold extremely
well). That brings us to…? That´s right, the 80s! If you could think of one group or individual who
defined music in the 80s, who would it be? Well, if you said Pee Wee Herman, you´re probably
reading the wrong blog. The answer is of course, Michael Jackson.
I actually remember where I was when I first heard Beat It. Mostly because of the Eddie Van Halen
guitar solo. As good as Beat It was, there was another song on the same album that did even
better; Billie Jean. Let´s take a look at that one.
Billie Jean
She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene
I said don't mind (Which means it doesn´t matter to me), but what do you mean I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round (I believe in the round means on a round dance floor. This
means people will be watching from all around the dancers.)
She said I am the one will dance on the floor in the round
(You can already see that much of what the writer wrote was simply to sound good when sung.
The focus is not on accurate sentences, because these sentences are not written very well.)
She told me her name was Billie Jean, as she caused a scene (Caused a scene means she did
something that made everyone pay attention. Causing a scene is mostly used in a negative way.
Here it seems to be saying that she made all the men want to be the one who was with her.)
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round
People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts (Breaking hearts you probably already
understand, but just to be sure, it means hurt them emotionally somehow.)
And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth (I believe he means if you lie to get
something, you may end up disappointed if you actually get it. We have a saying, “Be careful what
you wish for. You might just get it.”)
Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one (Claims means to say something is a fact. It may be
true or it may be false. The person is claiming it is true.)
But the kid is not my son (I think we all know what this means!)
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son
For forty days and forty nights (I´m sure these numbers are here only because they sound good.
Interestingly, however, there are biblical references regarding forty days and forty nights.)
The law was on her side
But who can stand when she's in demand (Who can stand, in this sentence, means who can win or
who can be victorious.)
Her schemes and plans (Schemes and plans are basically the same, except the word scheme is
usually thought of as a deceitful [not honest] plan.)
2. 'Cause we danced on the floor in the round (´Cause is an example of how sometimes artists
remove a letter from the word to make the word sound more musical. The whole word is
because.)
So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice (Think twice means think about
your choice carefully before making it.)
Do think twice
She told my baby we'd danced till three, then she looked at me (Three o´clock in the AM.)
Then showed a photo my baby cried his eyes were like mine (oh, no!) (It looks like Michael had
some explaining to do! Oh, no, is an expression that means the same thing as oops!)
'Cause we danced on the floor in the round, baby
People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
She came and stood right by me (In this sentence, the word right means very close. When we say
by me, we usually mean next to us, or by our side.)
Then the smell of sweet perfume
This happened much too soon
She called me to her room (Again, I think we all know what this means.)
Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
Until next time!! Tchau!
