Professor Julian Booker's research interests include probabilistic assessments, machine design, and structural integrity. His key areas are probabilistic methods for creep and fatigue design, novel design of electrical machines and machine elements, and statistical approaches to structural integrity problems. Current projects involve probabilistic modeling of plant behavior under complex loads, design of PM generators for rotorcraft, and electric rotor tail development. Past projects include shrink-fit modeling, warm pre-stressing fracture modeling, bearing manufacturing modeling, and testing of an active Gurney flap.
