Abigail Adams was born in 1744 and married John Adams at age 20. She managed the family farm and five children alone while her husband was away. Abigail started the women's rights movement by writing letters to her husband advocating for women's rights and helped end slavery. She was a private advisor to her husband during his presidency and believed that all people deserved equal rights and personal freedom during the Enlightenment period.
