Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1963 and later moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. He was a talented athlete from a young age. He attended the University of North Carolina where he averaged 37 points per game and was twice named college player of the year. Michael Jordan had a hugely successful basketball career, winning Olympic gold and being inducted into the basketball hall of fame.
