Michael Oher was born in 1986 and became homeless at age 16 after his father died and mother became addicted to drugs. He was then adopted by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, who helped him become a star football player. He played offensive tackle for the Baltimore Ravens, protecting the quarterback and helping lead the Ravens to victory over the Patriots in 2010 by not allowing any players into the backfield. His story of being adopted from a troubled background and rising to NFL stardom is considered an inspiration.
