Dawann Jones has worked in various roles in the Ohio music industry since 2006, including as a musician, show manager, and record label owner. He became interested in music after seeing his mother sing karaoke and was curious about music's effect on people. After his mother passed away in 2000, he began educating himself about the music business. While pursuing his Bachelor's degree in Music Business, he started his own independent record label called Jonez Enterprises to help local artists succeed. He has over 13,000 contacts in the music industry and experience promoting various brands to help his new business venture.

1. MUSICIAN AND MUSIC BUSINESS STUDENT DAWANN JONES
Since 2006, Dawann Jones has become a jack of all trades within the music industry in Ohio.
Even though his background started in customer service and warehousing, he has held the titles
of musician, show manager, artist/band manager, creative director, record label owner/operator,
and recording engineer assistant.
Jones became invested in music when he saw his mother singing karaoke at family events. Being
in the crowd, he saw how friends and family started dancing and singing along once the music
was played. He was very curious about the effect of music on others. He also wondered how
music intertwines with everyday life. After his mother's passing in 2000, he began reading books
about music creation, music history, music theory, and the music business.
Once developing his music knowledge, he started a local hip-hop group, Junior Rated, and began
making music in 2006. Being a very young group, there were many obstacles when it came it
producing or recording the music itself. Therefore, Jones bought his studio equipment and began
to produce, record, mix, and master his group’s music. To further his skills, he also started
interning at local recording studios.
After performing and being nominated for various awards, Junior Rated still wasn’t a profitable
music act. Jones wanted to get more into the business of music to understand how to profit
properly from his childhood ambitions. He started to attend music business seminars with his
group and their parents. Even though he is an artist at heart, he was very intrigued by the
business dealings within the music industry. Additionally, he learned that the top-selling
musicians are not really wealthy; it’s the businessmen and businesswomen behind their success.
During a high school field trip to Dayton’s Aviation Museum, Dawann stumbled upon an exhibit
about Full Sail University and its Ohio origins. Once doing more research after the exhibit, he
felt that Full Sail would be the last stepping stone he needed to turn his ambitions into a career.
While pursuing his online Bachelor’s degree in Music Business at Full Sail University in 2021,
he started his independent record label, Jonez Enterprises. Jones knows various local leaders,
media influencers, artists, and other key individuals that can further the success of Jonez
Enterprises. Since 2006, he has accumulated over 13,000 music industry contacts and leads to
promote the start of his new business venture. In addition, he has previously worked with brand
ambassadors, and advertising/publicity specialists all around the United States.
Being at Full Sail, Dawann has been able to not only learn the music business but has also been
able to learn various media tools to bring words on paper to life. Dawann Jones has seen the
transition from the typical and traditional music business model to the current new digital wave
of the music industry today. With that being said, he knows how to adapt to the new landscape of
