• EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique
• It allows people to release emotional wounds
from the past
• It is a form of emotional acupressure and energy
healing
EFT Cont.
• With EFT, we tap on certain
acupressure and meridian
points on the body
• These meridian points help us
to release stuck or blocked
energy
Basic Recipe
• EFT has a process called the Basic Recipe.
• This process has a set up statement, and tapping
regimen
SUDs Score
• Before we work on an issue
with EFT, we have to give it a
SUDs score. SUDs stands for
Subjective Units of Distress.
• On a scale of 0-10 when you
think about your problem how
much does it bother you?
• Give this a rating and also
notice where in your body you
can feel the emotional
intensity.
Set-Up Phrase
• In EFT, we begin each tapping
round with a set-up statement
• Throughout this set-up
statement we tap on the side
of the hand or karate chop
point
• While tapping you repeat the
phrase “Even though ______ I
deeply and completely accept
myself”
Even Though Statement
• Depending on what your problem is, you will fill in
the blank accordingly.
• If you have a fear of spiders you would say,
“Even though I have this fear of spiders, I deeply
and completely accept myself”
• With the Set Up Phrase, you will repeat the
process 3x
Tapping and Reminder
Phrase
• After completing the set up
statement you will then tap on
the acupressure points while
repeating the reminder phrase
• This reminder phrase is
usually the phrase that you
used to fill in the blank
• Eg- “This fear of spiders”
Repeat!
• Once you have done a round of tapping you will
go back and check your SUDs score on a 0-10
scale.
• Then repeat the Basic Recipe until the problem
has gone down to a 0.
