John Pemberton was a pharmacist born in 1831 in Georgia who invented Coca-Cola. He earned his medical degree in 1850 and initially practiced medicine and surgery before opening a drug store. During the Civil War, he served as a lieutenant colonel in the Confederate Army. In 1886, Pemberton accidentally blended the Coca-Cola syrup with carbonated water and decided to sell it as a fountain drink rather than medicine. He claimed it provided health benefits like curing headaches and exhaustion. Frank Robinson came up with the name "Coca-Cola" and designed the script logo.
