Joburg Ballet, a World Class African Ballet Company.
Established at the beginning of the millennium, Joburg Ballet is a full-time
professional ballet company, a major player in the performing arts, presenting
classical ballets and new works to a growing audience, and with partnerships across
the globe.
But Joburg Ballet is about more than dance and dancers. It does more than bring
world class ballet to our stages.
An arts institution of national stature and growing international recognition, Joburg
Ballet strives to enhance the cultural, economic and educational quality of life for the
people of Johannesburg by creating career destinations for dancers, arts
administrators, support staff and teachers, by giving employment to providers of
training, goods and services, by retaining skills in South Africa, strengthening the
appeal of the City to tourists and visitors, and enriching the lives of children.
A commitment to the children of Johannesburg today and an investment in the
continuing excellence of Joburg Ballet tomorrow, the company’s outreach,
development and training programmes provide safe and structured environments for
children to grow.
Youth oriented programmes are offered in venues across the city, giving children in
historically disadvantaged communities the chance to explore their artistic talent and
curiosity, learn valuable leadership skills and acquire self-esteem, helping to mold
them into socially responsible and culturally sensitive citizens.
Sponsorship is vital if Joburg Ballet is to continue to play a role in enhancing the

sponsoring a production to paying for a dancer’s pointe shoes to assisting aspiring
young dancers pay their tuition fees.
