The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing quality management systems in accordance with ISO 9001 standards, managing a laboratory for testing plastic materials, conducting internal audits, and ensuring products meet applicable national and international standards. The ideal candidate will have an engineering degree, 5-7 years of manufacturing experience, knowledge of ISO 9001 standards, and plastic pipe production and testing processes.

JOB TITLE: QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER (1 POST – Renewable Fixed Contract)
REPORTS TO: CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Promote and ensure achievement of quality and improvement of performance throughout
the organization while ensuring compliance of the manufactured products with applicable
national and international standards at all times.
ACTIVITIES/OUTPUTS
• Formulate, document, implement and manage QMS systems in line with ISO 9001 requirements
at Plasco.
• Develop, implement, communicate and maintain a quality management plan to align the
Company’s Quality Systems and Policies with QMS requirements as per international standards.
• Set up and maintain a modern laboratory for testing plastic raw materials and pipes at Plasco.
• Lead a team of laboratory technicians/assistants and to ensure the tests and procedures are
properly understood and carried out as per required procedures and international standards.
• Ensure manufacturing process monitoring systems are in place and being followed at all times.
• Monitor process performance by gathering relevant data, analysis and presenting to
management on a periodic basis as per ISO 9001 standards.
• Maintain and keep up-to-date the Quality Management System at Plasco Ltd.
• Conduct Internal Audits according to ISO 9001 standards as per the schedule and report to
the management.
• Liaise with staff of different disciplines and drive the group to plan, formulate and agree
comprehensive quality assurance and management procedures.
• Manage and maintain the Company’s quality inspection and product release programs for
incoming and in-process materials and components, processes and finished goods.
• Ensure that QA compliance objectives and targets are achieved.
• Organize and manage the Quality Assurance function in close co-operation with the
customers and with the Company’s Management.
• Identify relevant quality-related training needs and deliver the training.
• Conduct periodic Management Review meetings as per ISO 9001 requirements.
• Oversee and manage customer complaints and product recalls with the aim of minimizing the
same.
• Responsible for accurate and timely inspection/calibration of monitoring and measuring
devices in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
• Keep abreast with latest standards, regulations/laws and technological developments with
respect to Plastic pipe manufacturing, testing and installation processes and advise the
management accordingly for appropriate action

2. THE PERSON
• Engineering Degree in Chemical & Processing Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5- 7 years working experience in manufacturing industries in a Technical position.
• Extensive knowledge about the processing and testing of Plastic raw materials, HDPE & UPVC
Pipes and Fittings (Added advantage).
• Extensive knowledge in UPVC and HDPE pipe formulations and ability to develop new
formulations as per customer requirements and polymer compounding standards in co-
rotating and counter-rotating twin screw extruders. (Added advantage).
• Knowledge on welding and installation of plastic pipes.
• Knowledge in handling advanced Plastics testing equipment e.g. Rapid Crack Propagation
(RCP) testing equipment, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, Pressure Testing equipment etc.
• Fully conversant with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 QMS.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Strong written & verbal communication skills in English.
• IT skills with strong background in use of spreadsheets for data analysis (strong mathematical
ability).
• Registered with Engineering Registration Board (ERB)
