This document discusses how Jesus showed himself to be a friend of sinners through his sacrifice, sharing, salvation, and strategy. It notes that Jesus' sacrifice was vicarious, vicious, voluntary, and victorious. It also explains that Jesus shared his lessons, love, life, and legacy. Additionally, the document states that through Jesus, believers are confirmed, chosen, called, and comforted. Finally, it outlines that Jesus' strategy was not to critique, condemn, compromise, or confuse the world, but rather to save it through his sacrifice on the cross.
Matthew: The King and His Kingdom: Matthew 14.22 33Stephen Palm
We move from one miracle to another. After the miraculous feeding of the 5,000 plus, Jesus sends his disciples away in a boat back towards Capernaum, so that he can catch his breath and have some much-needed prayer time with his heavenly father. What Jesus shows us is that even in the busiest seasons of life we need to hit pause and seek solitude, so that we can discern God’s direction for us through prayer. Sitting on the mountain looking west over the Sea of Galilee with the sun to his back he sees that his disciples are in now in danger. A storm has descended upon them, and their boat is being beaten by the waves and the winds are against them (v.24). Knowing their fear (Matt. 8:23-27), The One who created gravity will defy it by walking across the water to his bewildered followers to comfort them. As he approaches the boat in the fourth watch of the night (v.25), they are convinced it is a ghost, but Jesus assures them it is he. Like the flip of switch Peter goes from fearful to faith filled, “Lord if it is you, command me to come to you on the water (v.28).” Jesus bids him to Come (v.29). Empowered by Spirit of Christ Peter leaves the security of the boat fixing his eyes on the Lord. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and began to sink crying out Lord save me (v.30). Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold him (v.31). The principle for us is when we are in the storms of life there is only one person who will hold us up when we begin to sink…Jesus.
A main event before Peter’s walk on the water was the calling of the Twelve – Luke 6:13-16; Matthew 10:2-4.
The feeding of the 5,000 forms the background for the teaching on the Lake.
John focused on the lesson the disciples were to learn from the feeding – John 6:1-15.
Christians "are the salt of the earth!" - What is meant by this metaphor? What influence do we have on the world as Christians if we have been polluted by the world? The need for salty saints to stay the rot of sin in the world!
Luke 2:7. When Joseph and Mary came to Bethlehem, there was no place for the Messiah’s birth in a guest room. Although Israel in general was looking forward to the Messiah, many rejected Jesus anyway. Is there a place for Jesus in your heart?

It can be very hard to share your faith in Christ with your family. Even Jesus' own brother, James took a long time before believing Jesus was the son of God.
In this lesson we define and study vanity. What vanity robs us of and did this sin have anything to do with the suffering of Jesus the Christ. Both audio and slides can be enjoyed together at www.cmcoc.org

Luke 14: 1, 7-14 talks about people trying to climb the social and corporate ladder, hanging around with the successful people. Jesus calls us to be humble and serve those whom are not in the social circles or corporate high places
