Sir Alfred Hitchcock was an influential English film director and producer known as the "Master of Suspense" for introducing new techniques to the suspense and psychological thriller genres (1899-1980). He kept his stories simple, linear, and crisp to maintain suspense. He also surprised audiences with unexpected twists and made unconventional character choices. Some of his signature techniques included showing the audience information characters did not have to build tension. He won numerous awards over his career, including BAFTAs, Golden Globes, and an Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award for his contributions to the film industry.
