God calls Jeremiah to be a prophet and warns him that it will be a difficult task, as he must deliver messages of coming judgment. God knew Jeremiah and had plans for him even before he was born, setting him apart for a special purpose as a prophet to the nations. The key message is that just as God had purpose for Jeremiah's life, each person also has importance to God and a duty to fear Him and follow His commandments.

was born.

b. Jeremiah was “sanctified,” or set apart for a
special purpose.
2. We also are important to God.
a. There is a purpose to our lives.
b. Ecc. 12:13 - Let us hear the conclusion of the
whole matter: Fear God, and keep His
commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
