This lesson plan is for a 90-minute Jeopardy game reviewing triangles and logic. Students will be divided into two teams to play the game, answering questions about triangle congruence, similarity, properties, and right triangle trigonometry. The game utilizes PowerPoint slides and keeps score. The winner of a final question from state standards tests earns extra credit points. Formative and summative assessments include questions during game play and the final question. The goal is to engage students in reviewing key concepts through competition.

a. identifying the converse, inverse, and contrapositive of a conditional statement.

c. using Venn diagrams to represent set relationships; and
d. using deductive reasoning, including the law of syllogism.
 G.5 The student will
a. investigate and identify congruence and similarity relationships between triangles; and
b. prove two triangles are congruent or similar, given information in the form of a figure or
statement, using algebraic and coordinate as well as deductive proofs.
 G.6 The student, given information concerning the lengths of sides and/or measures of angles will
apply the triangle inequality properties to determine whether a triangle exists and to order sides and
angles. These concepts will be considered in the context of practical situations.
 G.7 The student will solve practical problems involving right triangles by using the Pythagorean
Theorem, properties of special right triangles, and right triangle trigonometry. Solutions will be
expressed in radical form or as decimal approximations.

• Use the Fill-In-The-Blank Framing Routine (attached) to review Logical Arguments.
• Divide students into two teams. Teams should be seated on opposite sides of the room, with all students
facing the projector screen.
Lesson Development
• Each team elects one representative to play Rock-Paper-Scissors (best out of three) to decide which team
goes first.
• Play Jeopardy game (attached), keeping score for both teams.
Closure
• Each team decides how many of the accumulated points they want to bet for the final question.
• Hand out printed question taken from SOL released test questions (attached).
• If the team gets the question right, they earn the amount of points the bet. If they get the question wrong,
they lose the same amount of points.
• Award two points of extra credit (to be added on Triangles and Logic test) to each member of the winning
team.
