A.D.U.L.L.A.C.T.
Founded in 2002, ADULLACT's objectives are to
support and coordinate the action of local
authorities and administrations in order to
promote, develop and maintain a heritage of
open source software useful for public service
missions.
ADULLACT, a unique structure in Europe, is an
initiative born of the need to develop an
alternative to the proprietary licensing system,
particularly in the field of business software.

Early awareness of software sharing among
Aquitaine academics, since the University of
Bordeaux was the first French university site
connected to the Internet : training generations of
students in free software, which was used for
teaching since the late 1980s.

The first specialized companies were also created
at an early stage, which led to the creation of the
first regional grouping of free software companies
in 2003 : ProLibre.

Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council :

Support for several major actions, such as the creation of
Libre Software Meetings (LSM) in July 2000.
