VP Nana plants uXakuxaku - Matohwe
More work is needed to stem the
huge loss in natural forestry in
Zimbabwe. Speaking during his visit
to Zimbabwe in March 2013, JCI Vice
President Nana commended
members and the Tetrad Group for
working towards the reduction of
desertification in Zimbabwe.
At an event held to plant trees on
behalf of JCI Zimbabwe at the
Zimbabwe National Army facilities at
the Harare International Airport,
members were informed that the
country loses 330,000ha of tree land
each year, the size of Zaka District.
The project has to date planted
101,000 trees towards its goal of 5
million trees when the UN MDGs
come to an end in 2015.

Meeting Someone
New to JCI
Local Presidents from JCI Bulawayo, JCI Harare, JCI City, JCI
Mutare and JCI Kwekwe met on the 26th
of January 2013 in the
pristine environs of the Country Club for this year’s First Presidents’
Meeting.
Presidents “worskshoped” through the National Plan of Action,
ensuring that they reduced it to actions. Three key topics emerged
for implementing the POA this year, Growth, Finances & Projects.
There has been marked improvements on all three fronts in Q1 2013
although much work remains to help score better. Ask your Local
President about your LO Dashboard. Keep them Honest!

My Fellow JCIs
New Members are the Dare to Actness Wind Under our wings
We are already in April – another reason for me to panic and
notice that the year is going pretty fast! Let me say it is also going
pretty well, I must say. We have had many good turns. We have
already welcomed 46 new members to our ranks, entered
projects for Awards at area conference and with this newsletter
collected all our 100% efficiency points for 2013. Placing a lapel
pin on each of the new members means I have learned more
about the energy and “Dare to Actness” that these members
bring to JCI Zim. Boy Am I Excited to see what they bring to the
potty!
The 2nd
Quarter and Your Commitment to a Better Life for All
When I helped the 46 new members join JCI I pointed out that
once you joined JCI, it was like marriage, you must carry on, in it
because of the commitment and not the infatuation of youth.
Being married, I should know! Our theme in Zimbabwe this year is
Passion Inspired Greatness. Why? Because this country named
after the 15th
century Great Zimbabwe ruins must resemble the
innovative focus it once had and its leadership prowess that
allowed it to lead Southern Africa the way it did. And because only
through our passionate implementation of projects that change
communities can we inspire each citizen to build a better
Zimbabwe. Like us on facebook to learn more about the Passion
Inspired Greatness Movement!
What must we do?
In Q2 we must build a more formidable organisation, taking it to
Masvingo, Zvishavane and building two new organisations in
Harare. We must recruit 50 more members to our ranks.
We must raise funds for both the JCI Zimbabwe Foundation and
the JCI Foundation and so must raise more funds for our projects.
As part of our strategy, we are now collecting subscriptions for
2013 in order to make payments for 2014. Finally our projects
must grow and impact more in our country; they need to be based
on the needs of the communities they serve and should offer
sustainable solutions, after all, we are solution providers! To do
this, we must live as Chiara Milani 2013 JCI President says, Dare
to Act.
Well done everyone, see you in the next issue!
And the President Speaks!
First Quarter Issue, 2013
Welcome to JCI AfriAsia Kingdom
Listed financial services group AfriAsia Kindgom Zimbabwe
Limited scored a first by becoming the first ever Zimbabwean
company to host a JCI Local Organisation.
JCI Zimbabwe was allowed to establish a Local Organisation made
of the group’s employees and stakeholders. To be known as JCI
AfriAsia Kingdom, the Local Organisation has already elected their
inaugural Local Leadership in elections held in February, 2013
The elected Local Board will oversee the process of affiliating the
Local Organisation with JCI Zimbabwe. A part of the requirements
of the affiliation process is that the new Local Organisation
completes a community project, as well as enrols a minimum of 25
members on its register.
The elections, which were overseen by officials from the extending
Local Organisation, JCI City, brought Miss Rujeko Gororo to the
inaugural Presidency of the Local Organisation. In line with the JCI
principle of One Year to Lead, she and her Board will hold office up
to the end of 2013, after which a new team will be expected to take
over.
The establishment of a local organisation housed under the
business, is a culmination of years of cooperation between the
Nigel Chanakira founded group and JCI Zimbabwe. The group has
been a consistent and worthwhile supporter of JCI Zimbabwe
programs and projects across the country. The Group Chief
Executive Officer Mrs Lyn Mukonoweshuro, in a speech at a JCI
dinner challenged JCI Zimbabwe to explore further areas of
cooperation. JCI Zimbabwe proposed a Memorandum of
Understanding that set up the Local Organisation. It is expected
that other JCI Local Organisations will also be established in areas
where Kingdom has representation, with the assistance of JCI
Zimbabwe.

The 100% Efficiency Programme is designed to ensure that National and Local
Organisations run a tight ship. In our case we have already started well but we need
everyone to pull their all to so that we win this award. It is the only award where you
compete against yourself.
We cannot afford to lose. The starting point is that all members need to be on the JCI
website. If you do not have a profile yet, please start one and get your LP to activate
you urgently. Learn more about this award from SANP Loyd.
We can do this!

Speaking during his visit to Zimbabwe in March 2013, JCI Vice President Nana commended members and the Tetrad Group for working towards the reduction of desertification in Zimbabwe. At an event held to plant trees on behalf of JCI Zimbabwe at the Zimbabwe National Army facilities at the Harare International Airport, members were informed that the country loses 330,000ha of tree land each year, the size of Zaka District. The project has to date planted 101,000 trees towards its goal of 5 million trees when the UN MDGs come to an end in 2015. 2013 JCI Vice President Abraham Nana Acquaye (Ghana) receives a tree from 2013 JCI Zimbabwe President Francis Mwale to plant at one of the ZNA facilities Inside Uxakuxaku - Matohwe Introducing a New Style in Planning President’s Message VP Nana goes from Bulawayo to Kwekwe JCI AfriAsia Kingdom is born The Pictures So Far The 100% Efficiency Programme 2013 Meeting Someone New to JCI Local Presidents from JCI Bulawayo, JCI Harare, JCI City, JCI Mutare and JCI Kwekwe met on the 26th of January 2013 in the pristine environs of the Country Club for this year’s First Presidents’ Meeting. Presidents “worskshoped” through the National Plan of Action, ensuring that they reduced it to actions. Three key topics emerged for implementing the POA this year, Growth, Finances & Projects. There has been marked improvements on all three fronts in Q1 2013 although much work remains to help score better. Ask your Local President about your LO Dashboard. Keep them Honest! Upcoming Events in 2013 JCI Harare Nothing But Nets Fundraising Dinner May 4, 2013, Meikles Hotel, Harare www.jciharare.org.zw JCI Africa and Middle East Conference Gaborone, Botswana – May 8 – 11 www.jcigaborone2013.org JCI Global PartnershipSummit June 24 - 26, New York City, United States http://www.jci.cc/summit/ JCI Zimbabwe President Francis DM Mwale My Fellow JCIs New Members are the Dare to Actness Wind Under our wings We are already in April – another reason for me to panic and notice that the year is going pretty fast! Let me say it is also going pretty well, I must say. We have had many good turns. We have already welcomed 46 new members to our ranks, entered projects for Awards at area conference and with this newsletter collected all our 100% efficiency points for 2013. Placing a lapel pin on each of the new members means I have learned more about the energy and “Dare to Actness” that these members bring to JCI Zim. Boy Am I Excited to see what they bring to the potty! The 2nd Quarter and Your Commitment to a Better Life for All When I helped the 46 new members join JCI I pointed out that once you joined JCI, it was like marriage, you must carry on, in it because of the commitment and not the infatuation of youth. Being married, I should know! Our theme in Zimbabwe this year is Passion Inspired Greatness. Why? Because this country named after the 15th century Great Zimbabwe ruins must resemble the innovative focus it once had and its leadership prowess that allowed it to lead Southern Africa the way it did. And because only through our passionate implementation of projects that change communities can we inspire each citizen to build a better Zimbabwe. Like us on facebook to learn more about the Passion Inspired Greatness Movement! What must we do? In Q2 we must build a more formidable organisation, taking it to Masvingo, Zvishavane and building two new organisations in Harare. We must recruit 50 more members to our ranks. We must raise funds for both the JCI Zimbabwe Foundation and the JCI Foundation and so must raise more funds for our projects. As part of our strategy, we are now collecting subscriptions for 2013 in order to make payments for 2014. Finally our projects must grow and impact more in our country; they need to be based on the needs of the communities they serve and should offer sustainable solutions, after all, we are solution providers! To do this, we must live as Chiara Milani 2013 JCI President says, Dare to Act. Well done everyone, see you in the next issue! And the President Speaks! First Quarter Issue, 2013
  • 3. Welcome to JCI AfriAsia Kingdom Listed financial services group AfriAsia Kindgom Zimbabwe Limited scored a first by becoming the first ever Zimbabwean company to host a JCI Local Organisation. JCI Zimbabwe was allowed to establish a Local Organisation made of the group’s employees and stakeholders. To be known as JCI AfriAsia Kingdom, the Local Organisation has already elected their inaugural Local Leadership in elections held in February, 2013 The elected Local Board will oversee the process of affiliating the Local Organisation with JCI Zimbabwe. A part of the requirements of the affiliation process is that the new Local Organisation completes a community project, as well as enrols a minimum of 25 members on its register. The elections, which were overseen by officials from the extending Local Organisation, JCI City, brought Miss Rujeko Gororo to the inaugural Presidency of the Local Organisation. In line with the JCI principle of One Year to Lead, she and her Board will hold office up to the end of 2013, after which a new team will be expected to take over. The establishment of a local organisation housed under the business, is a culmination of years of cooperation between the Nigel Chanakira founded group and JCI Zimbabwe. The group has been a consistent and worthwhile supporter of JCI Zimbabwe programs and projects across the country. The Group Chief Executive Officer Mrs Lyn Mukonoweshuro, in a speech at a JCI dinner challenged JCI Zimbabwe to explore further areas of cooperation. JCI Zimbabwe proposed a Memorandum of Understanding that set up the Local Organisation. It is expected that other JCI Local Organisations will also be established in areas where Kingdom has representation, with the assistance of JCI Zimbabwe.
