National Youth Colloquium on State of Governance
On behalf of the board and management of Youngstars Development Initiative (Youngstars
Foundation), Abuja, International Republican Institute (IRI), Generation Democracy Washington DC
and USAID, I am very delighted to invite you to participate in the first edition of ‘National Youth
Colloquium on State of Governance 2016’. The Youth Colloquium is organized to provide a non-
partisan youth friendly space and platform for young Nigerians to deliberate on the state of
governance under the President Muhammadu Buhari government during its first year in office and to
also articulate youth priority areas for engagement over the next 12 months.
Objectives
a. To provide a platform for young citizens to continue to voice their priorities to government
b. To sustain post-election youth activism and networking towards accountable and responsive governance
c. To facilitate a window for government and the youth to continue to interact and share information on
state of governance in Nigeria.
Please find below the event information for your perusal;
Date: Wednesday 25th
May, 2016
Venue: Kannem Hotel, (Behind Peace Park), Jabi Abuja
Time: 8:00am – 5:30pm
Accommodation/Meals:
For participants resident outside Abuja, hotel accommodation shall be covered by Youngstars
Foundation (Hotel information shall reach every each selected participants that confirm their
participation on or before Monday 22nd
May, 2016). Arrival shall be Tuesday 24th and departuure
shall be thursday 26th, 2016.
Room Share: Please note that 2 persons of same gender shall be paired in a room.
Participant(s) meals are also covered by the organizers from Wednesday 25th, May 2016.

Transportation:
Participant(s) transportation cost shall be our responsibility (road only please).
Also, ONLY those who present Receipts for the transportation shall be reimbursed. We advise you use
transport companies that do offer receipts. Moreso, reimbursement only covers your Inter-state
expenses. Costs between your house to the park and others would not be borne by the organizers. We
therefore appeal to you to please bring along your receipts for reimbursement.

About Youngstars Foundation
Youngstars Foundation is one of Africa’s unique, life-changing youth organization started in Jos,
Plateau state, but now operates from Lugbe, Abuja Nigeria. From a weekly youth club in a local barber
shop in 1995, YF is growing to emerge as one of the lead youth non-profit that is building young
people and strengthening youth organizations involved in development programs in Africa. For Seven
years the organization received no funding but conducted activities in secondary schools until 2003
when it received its first funding from Allen Webster Winners Fund UK. Since then it has partnered
with British Council Nigeria, The Office of the Presidency on MDGs, ICNC USA, LYNX USA, Federal
Ministry of Youth Development Nigeria, World Youth Alliance USA, SKYPE UK, IRI Nigeria and NDI
Nigeria, UNDP Nigeria, America Embassy, among other international and local organisation.
Interestingly NED USA who has funded Youngstars annually since 2004 till present remains its key
funder. Youngstars Foundation is registered by CAC Nigeria (CAC/IT/NO 21517) and in Ghana G.21,
431 as Youngstars Development Initiative. And in July 2013, Youngstars was awarded a “Special
Consultative Status” by Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Youngstars has facilitated the
emergence of many youth organizations in Nigeria and has a Coalition for Youth Capacity Building
which has over 100 members.
