Makerere University is located in Kampala, Uganda. It was established in 1922 as a technical institute and has since grown to become a national university with over 9 colleges. The university has 3 main gates and important buildings include the Main Building, Senate Building, and Main Library. It has 9 halls of residence that house students. Makerere University aims to continue improving the quality of education and security on its campuses.

4. BRIEF HISTORY
 Established in 1922
 First established as a technical institute
 Started with only 14 day students in carpentry, building and mechanics.
 On July 1, 1970 it became an independent National University
 Changed from faculty based to collegiate system on 1st July 2011
 Officially transformed into collegiate system on 30th December 2011
