We use this in the music video to convey a
deeper meaning that the scrap book
shows their past happy life. (The sign) It
empathises the fact that the girls life was
previously a very happy one, but now
various events have occurred to disrupt
these happy memories.
It could also represent that the two
females are creative people and like to
reflect back on their past life.

2. The mirror (The signifier) shows a persons
reflection (The signified).

We used this in our music video as a way
to convey to the audience that the female
character is reflecting on her past life.
Combined with other signs (such as the
scrapbook) the audience know that they
are looking back at past events and
reflecting on how their lives have changed.

3. Using the shot of driving away (the
signifier) shows that they are driving
to another destination (the
signified).
The reasons we used this shot of the
car driving away helps to show the
fact that the female characters are
leaving their past life behind- moving
on. Its symbolic as watching the
other cars pass them symbolises by
moving on they are watching their
past lives go past.

4. Ripped photo (the signifier)
shows a photo is ruined (the
signified).
We included this to convey the
fact the family in the music
video has been torn apart. The
idea of putting it in the water
shows the photo floating away
in different parts- relating to
what is happening to that
family. Also shows that the
photo will forever be ruined,
similar to the family.

5. The dog (the signifier) represents a house
hold pet (the signified).
Deeper meaning for using the dog and
setting it off the lead links strongly to the
idea that the female characters are being set
free from their family issues due to the
parents splitting up. It could also relate to the
idea the dog symbolises them moving on
with their lives. Using the dog also indicates
that the dog is a strong member of their
family and it shows the strong relationship
between the girls and their pet.

6. The eye (the signifier) represents a
characters eye (the signified)
We used a shot of an eye within our
thriller to represent the characters
emotions and allow the audience to feel
closer and connected to the character.

7. The Past Will Haunt You (the signifier)
represents the title of a book (the signified)
We used this title within our thriller video
to give the audience a clue of what to
expect within the thriller and suggest that
there will be many clues within the video.

8. The newspaper (the signifier) gives
people news within their local area (the
signified).
We used this in our thriller video to show
the audience that a crime has gone on
and this is what they should expect to
see. E.g. a crime has happened in the
woods, a young female is died.
