Designers + Developers, Designers vs. DevelopersGabi Moore
AnyClip Designer Gabi Moore talks about some of the issues surrounding the relationship between designers and developers, and what can be done to improve it. This presentation includes the results of an informal survey where both designers and developers explain in their own words some of the problems that come from working together, as well as ideas on to better bridge the gap between the design and development worlds.
Auto generate customized test suit for your AngularJs.Fundamentals and working principle of generator-yosapy (https://www.npmjs.com/package/generator-yosapy)
Generates Jasmine test for your angularJs file, Most of these auto generated custom test cases will actually be passing and it will take file’s code coverage from 0% to 40%-50% without writing a single line of code, ain't that freaking awesome!!!
Presented at the Riding the Wave Conference in Gimli, Manitoba. May 2017.
In two words, you remember the whole story: glass slipper, sour grapes, cold porridge. You remember more than facts, you recall relationships & deeper connections between characters. Some of the powerful ways we leverage digital for deeper learning includes challenging sources of information (fake news), exploring bias (developing empathy through multiple perspectives), and creating powerful feedback loops that foster deeper learning.
Powerful narratives, in a word or two, bring to mind a wealth of ideas & relationships; more than just facts. How can we find stories that make our teaching sticky and help kids find, and more importantly tell, stories that make learning stick? This workshop will equip teachers with the skills & knowledge to foster deeper learning across the curriculum by intentionally leveraging digital tools to foster deeper learning.

As a designer, you need ways to work better so that you can create more, but what do you do when you hit a seemingly insurmountable mental wall? You need to bust through your mental barriers to unblock your creativity and allow it to flow.
Combining the neuroscience of creativity with methods to increase productivity, we’ll discover techniques and tools to get past the mental barriers that keep you stuck and slow you down – which is also known as the Inner Critic. We’ll explore ways in
which to dramatically enhance your creative self-esteem: to feel like your ideas are good enough and stop committing “ideacide.”
We’ll then uncover how to prevent criticism and judgement from immobilizing you and shutting down your creative process, how to leverage the collective genius of a group to amplify creativity, and
tricks for generating more ideas than you ever thought possible.
These approaches will not only help to enhance your productive creativity, but they will also help you to operate from a place of passion and excitement. By the end, you’ll have a roadmap of how to not only get unstuck, but also how to channel your
creativity as a force for positive change in the world.
Banish Your Inner Critic v2.0: Swipe Left! - University of Illinois WebCon 2018Denise Jacobs
Research shows that self-talk is not only a key component to thinking and processing information, but is also how we build our ideas of who we are. This means that when self-talk goes awry, it’s the main source of our biggest block to creativity: the Inner Critic.
What if there were simple and effective ways to change our self-talk for the better and banish the inner critic in order to do our best work as contributors, collaborators, and leaders? Fortunately, there are! First, you’ll discover the 3 mental power tools that we already possess to stop the inner critic in its tracks. Then you’ll learn methods for dealing with the fear of being judged and criticized, how to transform highly critical self-talk into that of approval and encouragement, and ways to feel like your ideas are good enough and stop committing “ideacide.” By the end, you’ll have a roadmap of how to both get unstuck and channel your
creativity as a force for positive change in the world.
Banish Your Inner Critic v2.0 - Agile 2017Denise Jacobs
Creating can be a tortured process. Sadly, this torture is often self-inflicted. The angst is not inherent in the creative process itself, but instead comes from the fears we have around our ability to produce. These fears manifest as the Inner Critic, which is the largest block to the flow of original ideas. But there’s good news: you can break the power that Inner Critic wields over you to become a creative powerhouse!
In this talk, we’ll begin by exploring the origins of the Inner Critic and discover the tools that you already possess to vanquish it. Then we’ll dive into methods for dealing with the fear of being judged and criticized, how to transform highly critical self-talk into that of approval and encouragement, and ways to feel like your ideas are good enough and stop committing “ideacide.”
By the end, you’ll have a roadmap of how to not only get unstuck, but to channel your creativity as a force for positive change in the world. The potential for greatness lies dormant in all of us. Banishing your Inner Critic is the first step to getting back in touch with the highly productive creative badass that you are and sharing your gifts with the world.
Presentation Building Learning Communities Conference. Boston, MA. 19 July 2012.
In a word or two you remember the whole story: glass slipper, sour grapes, cold porridge. You remember more than the facts (a step mother & two step sisters, an absent father, a godmother) you remember the relationships and deeper connections between the characters (nasty step mom & sisters, warm but lonely friendships with the animals in the house, a dream of a better life).
The challenge for teachers and students is not to find problems but to find stories. Powerful narratives, in a word or two, bring to mind a wealth of ideas and relationships; more than just facts. How can we find the stories that make our teaching sticky? How do we help kids find, and more importantly tell, the stories that make their learning sticky?
We’ll look at some strong examples and send you on your way with a toolkit of ideas and practices to make teaching & learning sticky in your class.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Francesca Gottschalk - How can education support child empowerment.pptxEduSkills OECD
Francesca Gottschalk from the OECD’s Centre for Educational Research and Innovation presents at the Ask an Expert Webinar: How can education support child empowerment?
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Presenter’s Notes:
Hook: I Am Kage (ka-ge)
*Japanese for shadow
Who am I, what makes me different then the others around me and what makes me stand out.
Roots:
Next few slides, define my values.
“I value many things in life, but three are essential to me.”
The things and beliefs that essentially make me who I am.
Values: family, helping others, art
I value my family above all else. Everything that I do I do for my family. For if it wasn’t for them, I would not be where I am today.
They have always and will continue to be by my side.
To me, race and blood mean nothing when it comes to who you consider family. Though they are different then me in terms of look and where we come from, those two are my brothers.
We went through high school Hell together and are still close.
I also value in helping those who truly need. I try to go out of my way to help as many people as I possibly can.
My most proud way of helping is from this logo. The logo of my anti-bullying organization.
My final essential value and my true love is art. Whether it be 2D or 3D, tattoos or paintings, movies or video games, I love art.
For if it wasn’t for art, I would not be following my dream today. And it saved me and acted as my escape growing up.
What has made me believe and develop those specific values:
Getting bullied
Losing so much family
Finding my love for art
Starting mixed martial arts and parkour
Growing up, I experienced a lot of pain. Enough pain that would break most people, especially kids and teens.
Such as getting bullied. I was picked on ever since I was a kid for it being my size or the things that caught my interest.
Even to this day, when some people see me, they think they can punk me and push me around.
I also lost a lot of loved ones during my short 20 years of living. I’ve been around death for as long as I can remember.
But that pain has helped me grow into the person that I am today.
When I was child, I was instantly drawn towards video games and comics. And the thing that drew me towards them was the art.
The way the characters, environments and props were drawn and modeled.
I knew then and there that my true passion was for art.
When I was eight, I started boxing, to let go of the anger I held onto and to learn how to protect myself.
But as I grew, I studied and practiced many different forms and styles of fighting. Then when I turned 13, my uncle began to train me in MMA
Also, when I started training in MMA, I also picked up parkour/ free running. The art of being able to run and move through obstacles and use our environment to our advantage to move around more quickly.
With those two skills, I plan on competing in a competition that I have been watching and wanting to be a part of for years. And that would be American Ninja Warrior, which started in Japan as Sasuke.
Define my skillset:
Artist
Gamer
Martial artist
Freerunner
Musician
I have been an artist ever since I could properly hold a pencil. I have studied all forms of art from painting to sketching to sculpting.
And ever since my time here at Fullsail, I have become a 3D and computer artist. My favorite have to be animation and modeling.
I am also a very active gamer. I actually used to play competitively in games such as Pokemon and Yugioh
I have ten plus years of martial arts and fighting experience. I have found it to be relaxing and a great way of meditation.
I even have high hopes of one day being able to train with Jason David Frank, an undefeated MMA champion and is also known for playing Tommy Oliver. One of the original and best Power Rangers.
I am an active free runner. I go out as much as I possibly can and just run through the neighborhood. I remember when I first started, me and a group I ran with found a run down construction area. It was our parkour playground.
Other then being an artist, mixed martial artist and free runner. I am a musician, I have been playing ever since I was 8 and it all started with the violin.
Ever since then, I have learned how to play the guitar, bass, cello, drums and piano.
I was even a rapper for a few years.
Work experience:
Tutor
Mechanic
MMA trainer
Freelance artist
Gamestop employee
During my high school career, I worked as a tutor through recommendation by one of my teachers, Mr. Riley. I mainly tutored in math and Spanish.
When I was 11, I worked for my uncle as a mechanic up in my hometown of Gainesville, Florida.
It shows where I got my love and enthusiasm for cars. Especially classic American muscle. I actually helped my uncle restore a 1968 Mustang GT.
After about two years of training under my uncle, a former marine, in mixed martial arts. He asked me to be one of his trainers to help teach his less experience students.
I have also been and still am a freelance artist. I started off drawing cartoon characters for kids in middle school to know modeling and designing people’s characters. Whether they be for furries or for a game.
I am also working on and publishing my very on comic which I am being allowed to sell at a local comic shop.
I am also working on and publishing my very on comic which I am being allowed to sell at a local comic shop.
I even worked as a Gamestop employee as a seasonal hire.
So you can tell I truly do love video games.
So, that is who I am.
And with everything that I have done, I hope to find true success.
What is success to me?
To me success, is being recognized for all the good I have done and the art I have created, even if it’s just by one person.
For I am Kage, a shadow striving to be seen through my art.
