Jack lived with his poor mother and their cow Daisy. He traded the cow for magic beans which grew into a giant beanstalk. Jack climbed the beanstalk and found a castle with a magic hen that laid golden eggs and a harp that played music. When the giant fell asleep, Jack stole the hen and harp. But the hen cried out and woke the giant. Jack climbed down the beanstalk as the giant chased him. Jack's mother chopped down the beanstalk, killing the giant. They lived happily ever after with the magic items.

2. Once upon a time there was a boy called Jack. He lived with his mother, they were very poor. All they had was a cow called Daisy.

3. One morning, Jack’s mother told Jack to take their cow to market and sell her. On the way Jack met a man who offered to buy the cow for some magic beans.

4. Jack took the beans back home. When Jack’s mother saw the beans she was very angry. She threw the beans out of the window!

5. The next morning Jack looked out of the window and a giant beanstalk had grown! Jack went outside and started to climb up the beanstalk.

6. He climbed up to the sky through the clouds. There before him was a huge castle. Jack decided to go inside!

7. Jack heard a voice shout ‘Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum’ It frightened him so he hid in a cupboard. Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum!

8. An enormous giant came into the room and sat down. On the table there was a hen, and a golden harp.

9. ‘ Lay’ shouted the giant, and suddenly the hen laid a beautiful golden egg! ‘ Sing’ bellowed the giant, and the harp began to play beautiful music which sent the giant into a deep sleep. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

10. Jack jumped out of the cupboard and decided to steal the hen and harp for his mother. He quickly picked up the hen and harp and began to run. But suddenly the hen shouted ‘Help Master!’ and woke the giant! Help Master!

11. The giant shouted… Jack ran as fast as he could and started to climb down the beanstalk. But the giant came down after him! ‘ Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum I smell the blood of an Englishman Be he alive or be he dead I’ll grind his bones to make my bread!’

12. Jack shouted ‘Mother! Help!’ and with that Jack’s mother took an axe and chopped the beanstalk! Jack fell to safety. But the giant fell down hard, and that was the end of him!

13. With the golden eggs and the magic harp Jack and his mother lived happily ever after!
