Innovation is about finding new ways to meet a demand, current or future.
Innovation is about investing time, passion and resources in the unknown.
Gone are the days when successful innovation was made in isolation.
A winning formula is to open up to join forces and collaborate to gain both
time and resources. A more open approach to innovation has proven to be
fruitful.
This is also why innovation is the theme for this year’s Top Packaging Summit
by Packbridge which is taking place in Lund, Sweden the 23rd and 24th of
October. It is the third year for the conference and in this short period of time
it has grown to become one of the largest packaging conferences in Europe.

This time we didn’t think it was enough with one theme. Instead we settled
for four topics.
1. Packaging innovation for a demanding future. Is evolution fast enough?
2. Packaging, “The silent salesman” and the ultimate marketing tool.
3. Food waste – a luxury we cannot afford and a value chain challenge.
4. Technology adding real consumer value and brand loyalty.
In this program you will find an impressive line of speakers that will inform and
inspire you for two full days in Helsingborg, Sweden.
It is the fourth year for the conference and in this short period of time it has
grown to become the largest packaging conference in Europe.

In the packaging industry, as well as in other industries, we
know that it is becoming increasingly more expensive and
difficult to develop bright new products and solutions.
At least it is if you want to work with innovation and develop
ment in the traditional way – on your own, behind carefully
closed doors.
But there are also a large number of us who have realised
that there are other ways of doing things. Working in net
works, pursuing your related industries, sharing and collabo
ration; all of this opens up excellent opportunities for devel
oping new solutions and products, as well as new market
opportunities.
This is why, in gathering together the industry’s entire value
chain, the Packbridge packaging cluster has grown to encom
pass well over 200 member companies and organisations
since the beginning of 2010, and has expanded far beyond
our native Scandinavian shores. Members quickly see the
value of sharing the inspirational ideas, experience and con
tacts which Packbridge has to offer: between companies,
between industries and academia, between people. To this
we can add the other clusters in the Öresund Region, where
Packbridge HQ is based (we also have Packbridge North,
based in Sundsvall in the northern part of Sweden) – food
and beverages, pharmaceuticals and several other areas that
Packbridge works with in various ways. And that’s not all.
We can also add clusters all over the rest of Europe, for ex
ample in Germany, France and Austria.
Packbridge offers an international context, through partner
ships and signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with
companies and organisations throughout Europe, Asia and
the USA.
With Packbridge you get access to an unbeatably rich and
versatile meeting place. So don’t hesitate – become a mem
ber of the strongest and fastest growing packaging network
in Europe.
What’s in it for you?
Packbridge brings people together!
One of Packbridge’s most important tasks is to allow people
to meet and network. Packbridge arranges around 20 semi
nars and workshops every year, all very wellattended.
At these events we examine current and interesting themes.
In addition to these, we arrange Packbridge Material Day and
Packbridge Technology Day, and of course our flagship,
Top Packaging Summit by Packbridge, the international pack
aging conference that in only three years has grown into the
largest in Europe.
Via our international collaboration partners, we also ensure
that industry people from the whole world meet and ex
change experience.
As a member, if you have difficulties in taking part in these
meetings for any reason you can always benefit from our
professional Internet broadcasts, either live or at a later date.
Most of these networking events are membership benefits.
In other words, you get a lot for your money!
Catalyst for innovation
Innovation is the key to success and Packbridge is a catalyst
for innovation. Let us start from the beginning. Innovation
and success are largely built on organised research and mar
ket knowledge. Packbridge is working closely with research
organisations and universities as well as we are constantly
producing reports and analyses that form the basis for deci
sions on investments in innovation. We produce trend re
ports, market analyses and areaspecific reports.
Packbridge is also a partner in a number of different projects,
financed by the industry, government or the EU and in this
way is involved and can stimulate innovative solutions and
new operations.
The concept “open innovation” is important today, and to
gether with Skåne Food Innovation Network, Packbridge has
launched a unique innovation platform, OpenUp, which gives
open innovation an entirely new dimension with almost un
limited opportunities for innovation work.
As a member of Packbridge, your opportunities for successful
innovation work are significantly increased.
Shaping the future
The rapid increase in Packbridge membership numbers shows
the need for cluster collaboration. Packbridge is an important
instrument in the packaging industry’s value chain, an instru
ment that is an active part of shaping the future. In addition
to the fact that Packbridge is a catalyst for new operations,
we are also active in shaping the industry’s future employees.
Packbridge has been involved in the establishment of new
packaging training in Sweden. Having staff who know the
industry is a precondition for a bright future in everstronger
global competition. We work hard to spread the message
about packaging and the packaging industry in the academic
world, and over the years have created numerous “Aha” expe
riences among pupils at all school levels.
Packbridge also has an important role as a lobby organisation
with authorities and legislators. There are many misconcep
tions, and our task is to ensure on a continuous basis that the
right message reaches the right people.
Packbridge shapes the future of the industry. If you become
a member, you can affect this future in a tangible way. The
packaging industry has an important role to play in a global,
sustainable society. Let’s develop the opportunities together!
There are no Missing Links at Packbridge.
But We Miss You.
