Financial Strategy
The starting point is always the same – the clearly defined goal of the client. With our eyes squarely on that destination, we
build a cohesive financial strategy that combines a comprehensive financial plan and thoughtful investment management. As we
move toward the goal (guided by the strategy developed), designated action steps are implemented, tactical modifications are
made, and progress is methodically benchmarked.




Investment Philosophy
We manage clients’ investments by configuring their portfolio and maximizing returns within the context of individual risk
tolerance, tax status, time realities, wealth objectives, and unique circumstances – with an ever-vigil eye on the protection of
capital in all market conditions. We use carefully tailored stakes in traditional asset classes of stocks, bonds and cash, and
non-traditional investments. Our investments are guided by rigorous academic research, our own empirically sound research
and investment experience, and research from leading economists. Investment decisions are executed to limit tax liabilities
as well as managerial and transactional expenses.




Non-Traditional Investments
While “thinking outside the box” is in danger of becoming a cliché, it certainly continues to have merit as an investment
tactic. One alternative path we offer is participation in our non-traditional investment limited partnerships which pool funds
from clients and friends of the firm to invest in hedge, private equity, venture capital, mezzanine and distressed debt, and
managed futures funds. Our unique access to normally hard-to-access, non-traditional funds provides a link for our clients to
these institutional quality and scale investments. These investments lower portfolio risk via diversification, mitigate against
the effects of down markets, and provide opportunity to generate returns which add to wealth.

          Why do we call ourselves a client’s Personal Chief Financial Officer and not a financial planner? Taken at face value, financial
          planning suggests a somewhat limited scope and standardized services. Our take on financial services falls more into the
          big-picture category of financial strategy.


Financial Planning
          Our style is holistic – not only getting to know clients, but getting to know them completely. Well enough to actually be
          part of their goal-setting process.


Strategic Planning
          Managing unusually complex financial and business transactions is all in the strategy and built on true understanding
          and unrestricted customization: from exercising employee stock options to diversifying concentrated stock positions;
          from financing primary homes in the United States to purchasing second homes outside the country; and from negotiating
          compensation and retirement packages to structuring recapitalizations and complete sales of companies.


Family Office Services
          Families with substantial shared assets have tremendous opportunities to benefit their families and communities. At
          the same time, they also face many challenges in making sure these benefits are used wisely in the lives of younger
          generations, charities and family businesses.


Emerging Wealth
          As success grows, so do financial resources. We have a special Emerging Wealth Program to advise corporate executives
          on the fast track, entrepreneurs with rapidly growing business, and medical professionals early in their practices.


Institutional Retirement Plans
          We work with many companies seeking corporate retirement plan investment and administrative management. Together
          with the plan sponsor, we act as fiduciary for the 401(k) plans we manage. We simplify the investment process. We offer a
          transparent fee structure. We are full-service providers in all aspects of the plan administration process.

          As innovative financial stewards, we help our clients make wise investments in all areas of their lives, such as primary and
          secondary residences; office properties; automobiles and boats; checking accounts and financial training for younger

Our Team
               Michael Joyce, CFA, CFP
               Founder and President, Michael is responsible for the overall strategic direction of our clients and our firm.
               Michael is good at what he does. He is routinely recognized as one of Barron s Top 100 Independent
               Financial Advisors in America, as a Top 100 Wealth Advisor by Worth Magazine, and one of the Top 150
               Advisors for Doctors by Medical Economics.

               A Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Financial Planner, Michael is Chairman Emeritus of the Board
               of Directors of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), President of the NAPFA
               Consumer Education Foundation, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Small Business
               Financing Authority.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business
Administration from Drexel University.




Jack E. Payne, CFA
Partner and Chief Investment Officer, Jack is responsible for investment research and management of
client investment portfolios and the development of comprehensive personalized financial strategies. He is
a Chartered Financial Analyst, a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the CFA Institute and Rotary
International, and serves on the Boards of Directors of Youth Education in the Arts, the Community Music
School of Allentown, and the New Bethany Christian School.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of
Business Administration in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the William Simon School of Business at
the University of Rochester.

  • 5. Financial Strategy The starting point is always the same – the clearly defined goal of the client. With our eyes squarely on that destination, we build a cohesive financial strategy that combines a comprehensive financial plan and thoughtful investment management. As we move toward the goal (guided by the strategy developed), designated action steps are implemented, tactical modifications are made, and progress is methodically benchmarked. Investment Philosophy We manage clients’ investments by configuring their portfolio and maximizing returns within the context of individual risk tolerance, tax status, time realities, wealth objectives, and unique circumstances – with an ever-vigil eye on the protection of capital in all market conditions. We use carefully tailored stakes in traditional asset classes of stocks, bonds and cash, and non-traditional investments. Our investments are guided by rigorous academic research, our own empirically sound research and investment experience, and research from leading economists. Investment decisions are executed to limit tax liabilities as well as managerial and transactional expenses. Non-Traditional Investments While “thinking outside the box” is in danger of becoming a cliché, it certainly continues to have merit as an investment tactic. One alternative path we offer is participation in our non-traditional investment limited partnerships which pool funds from clients and friends of the firm to invest in hedge, private equity, venture capital, mezzanine and distressed debt, and managed futures funds. Our unique access to normally hard-to-access, non-traditional funds provides a link for our clients to these institutional quality and scale investments. These investments lower portfolio risk via diversification, mitigate against the effects of down markets, and provide opportunity to generate returns which add to wealth.
