8. Policy
• Required Documentation
– Active duty military members will need valid leave or travel orders
• Effective date of orders cannot be later than the sign-up date for travel
– Retired military are required to have retired I.D. card
– Bona fide family members accompanying eligible active duty and retired
members must present their I.D. card along with necessary documentation
when required (i.e., passport, and visa)
– All other individuals must present travel orders or transportation
authorization, which contains reference to the applicable paragraph of
OPNAVINST 5530.14C, under which an authenticating officer has authorized
travel

• Flight Registration
– Space available registration covers a 60-day period
– Space “A” sign-up is allowed before registration, and active duty and DoD
civilian passengers must be on leave and remain on leave while awaiting
travel and during the entire period of travel
– Anyone whose leave expires during the 60-day registration period will be
removed from the register, upon expiration of leave, unless extension of
leave has been granted
– Active duty leave, Environmental Morale Leave (EML), TAD orders,
Emergency Leave orders, and command sponsored letters for
unaccompanied family members will be stamped and annotated with the
category of travel, date and time of sign-up and destination requested

• Re-registration
– To remain current on the space available list, passengers will be
required to re-register 60 days after the initial sign-up. This must
be done in person
– Upon re-registration, the passengers names will be moved to the
bottom of the list of the space available register for an additional
60 days or until their leave / travel orders expire, whichever
comes first
– Retirees are required to re-register 60 days after initial sign-up
date

11. Immigration Requirements
• Due to NAF Atsugi not being an official port of entry/exit all non
– SOFA are required to check out with Yokohama immigrations
office 24/48 hours prior to departing NAF Atsugi
• All non-SOFA personnel flying into NAF Atsugi will be restricted
to the base pending Yokohoma immigration’s release

12. Things to Remember
• Too much baggage = NO SPACE “A”
• Early bird gets the flight
• Stay in touch with a terminal representative
• Round trip is not guaranteed
• Space “A” is not commercial travel
• Flight info is available 72 hours prior to departure date
• Some flights may not be able to provide Space “A” travel, due to
HAZMAT on board, range, fuel, and weight considerations etc...

• Proper Paper work is required to board aircraft (i.e. Command
Sponsorship Letter/Space “A” Travel Letter, EML orders)
• If traveling outside of Japan ensure you have a S.O.F.A. and
multiple Entry and Exit stamp in your passport

19. Asia Travel Campaign Overview
Provide the Camp Zama community members the opportunity to discover travel
and recreation options in Japan and the surrounding Pacific areas. Information
will be provided to the community via one-on-one interaction with travel
professionals, brochures, handouts, photo displays, posters and online web
searching and printing. Community members will be provided the opportunity to
discover the myriad of equipment available for self-directed recreation that is
available at Outdoor Recreation through static displays and equipment catalogs.
On-the-spot Adventure registration will be available for February and March
Outdoor Recreation Adventures as well as Spring Escapades from the
International Tours Office
