This document discusses how libraries can use various social software tools like Twitter, LinkedIn, and Foursquare. It provides definitions of social software, social networks, and social media. Guidelines are presented for setting up library accounts and policies for staff and patron use. Examples are given of how libraries currently use tools like Twitter to promote events, engage patrons, and build their reputation. Considerations are discussed for using tools like Foursquare to claim the library as a venue, offer rewards for patron check-ins and mayorships, and provide tips. The document concludes that libraries do not need to use every tool but should experiment to understand trends and monitor patron feedback.

The system guides customers through interactive voice responses to efficiently manage automated phone interactions and tasks.

While Lisa enjoyed learning the software, she found the teaching to be fast-paced and unclear at times, feeling she learned more through experimenting than instruction. Overall it provided a useful introduction to digital techniques for theatre design.

1) War and Peace at the Nottingham Playhouse used mirrors and picture frames incorporated into the set to represent paintings and doors/windows. Costumes were basic but conveyed different scenes by changing outer garments.
2) Matthew Bourne's Nutcracker! at the Theatre Royal had an innovative set design that cracked walls to show views outside. Costumes ranged from dull orphanage clothes to vibrant candy-inspired designs.
3) Burying Your Brother in the Pavement at the Waverly Theatre made great use of a small studio space to tell a meaningful story through humor and flashbacks on a screen.
After Charles I was overthrown during the English Civil War, Oliver Cromwell banned theatre between 1642-1660 due to its association with the monarchy and his Puritan beliefs. When Charles II was restored as king in 1660, theatre needed to be revived as actors had dispersed during its ban. Thomas Killigrew and William Davenant were tasked with reviving theatre and opened new playhouses, with Davenant pioneering the use of scenery and staging innovations from Europe that made his productions more popular. Women also began performing on stage during this time as it had become acceptable based on European precedents.
