The Cape Institute for Agricultural Training:
Elsenburg was established in 1898 as the first
agricultural college of its kind in Southern Africa. In
association with the Faculty of Agriculture and
Forestry Sciences at the University of Stellenbosch
they offer practical training in farming and
agriculture to B.Com Students. Dekro Paints is
providing various coatings to refurbish their
facilities and farm properties.
This specific structure was coated with Super
Fibretex and the roof with Allroof.
Undertaking a large refurbishment such as the
Weskus Mall Project requires detailed planning
and assessments of all surfaces to be coated.
The external factors such as climate conditions,
contamination and dew points must be
considered when drafting specifications for
repairs and coating applications.
Surface contamination due to prevailing
morning mists and ferrous oxide dust from the
nearby Saldanha Iron ore plants is our biggest
concern during this project. To eliminate this
we recommended interim washing between
coatings. Propery Diagnostic Services is
overseeing the project being completed by
Paintmaster.
We specified Sheerflex on the external walls
which are specially formulated to give a
textured appearance and bridge cracks without
being too rough. This results in a coating that
has a low dirt retention giving a much longer
coating life. Sheerflex has an Agrement
Certificate approved by the Department of
Public Works.

AUTUMN - COLOUR INSPIRATIONS
Paint colour inspiration is often drawn from nature and
with Dekro Paints it is no different as we “…bring paint to
life…”. Our colour inspiration is drawn from the Hexriver
Valley and West Coast during the autumn season. These
colours are available in our Hydrosilk (satin sheen) and
Super Acrylic (matt) ranges. Actual colours might vary slightly

Phase of the External Redecoration of
Canterbury Square is nearing completion and
this complex once again will be visually
prominent on the outskirts of the District 6 area.
The most intricate part of this refurbishment is
to ensure that all the waterproofing repairs are
treated successfully. Indawo with the assistance
of ABE Construction Chemicals have through
process of elimination and detailed
specifications eliminated the majority of the
water ingress issues on this project.
