8. Middle: the child is fully introduced to the childminder and begins to show crazy signs of stress. The childminder addresses the mother and tries to get her to spend some time with the young distressed child. At this point all signs of the child’s distress lead to the doings of the childminder. The father’s protectiveness over the childminder makes the mother suspicious as to whether the father has anything to do with the childs alteration in behaviours- she begins to revolt plan and plot against the father to work out what he is up to. Nobody but the child has been introduced to the ‘visitor’ who is hiding in his room.
9. End: after the parents are at each others throats and on the verge violence and divorce, the visitor (a clown) is revealed finally to the parents when they set up a camera system with some psychiatrists who think that the child has imaginary friends, or sees things. It then becomes apparent that a psychotic escapee from a far away mental institute has been camping out in the child’s bedroom with the mind of a disturbed clown. Synopsis: The story is based on a true account in which a wealthy family (consisting of a mother, a father and a young child of five years old) live in a middle-class area. Unfortunately for the child, a son by the name of Charlie, his parents are unable to care for him full time, as they both have very high paid jobs which primarily need them to be working for numerous hours in the day.
Due to this, being unable to look after their child, the parents hire a babysitter who unfortunately for the child, is new to this particular line of work. Once settled in to the job, the childminder begins to realise that the child is showing signs of serious distress when left alone in his room. Immediately, she tells the parents who at first leave it down to poor childminding but continue to exclaim that once child connects with the childminder, the stress will settle down.
Listening to the parents and believing that the assumption they put forward could be correct, the childminder herself dismisses the child’s behaviour until his screams and cries get aggressively worse.
