4. Background & Objectives
• ½ way through a longitudinal study to measure impact
• Aiming to understand Ent. Intent prior to exposure to CU/IAE
• Aiming to measure impact of CU/IAE
• Improve our understanding of the needs of our students
• Building on Enterprise UK study's and expansion of FE Enterprise
initiatives
5. Methodology
• Focus on high return rate / representative sample size
• Stage 1 involves all students responding to 6 key questions
during their induction
• Very short data collection window = quick tool required
• Total sample size is c. 4,000 students / year

1. Have you ever run your own business or been self employed?
2. Do you currently run your own business or are you self-employed?
3. Would you like to start your own business one day?
4. Do you have a business idea that you would like some help
developing?
5. Do you have a business idea that you would like some help funding?
6. Would you like to develop your entrepreneurial skills to improve your
employability?

• 3 Years of entry data now collected:
– 2010/11 = 1,680 usable responses
– 2011/12 = 2,163 usable responses
– 2012/13 = 1,868 usable responses
• Assuming a 3 year (UG) pathway, 5,711 students of 14,620 =
~40% response rate.

• v2 of the survey includes faculty details for added break down
• Gender study is possible within our data
• Exit data needed for stage 2 of this study to measure the impact of
CU / IAE
• Appeal to partner HEI’s to collaborate on study for deeper
understanding
