Institute of Internal Communication – London event
How to grow your agency – and master
the dark art of procurement
Whether you work for an agency or for yourself, the topic of business growth will come up again and again.
Where do you start? What's right for your business? And what kind of timescale should you set yourself?
Playing by their rules
One very significant way to grow your business is to win new clients. The landscape has been changing for
several years though and very few pitches – especially in the public sector and increasingly in larger private
sector organisations - now happen without having gone through some kind of rigorous 'pre-qualification' on
the part of the tenderer. So, how do you create chemistry via a tender portal and make sure you put your
best foot forward? Crucially, how do you select and mobilise the right team internally to do - and own - this?
Different routes to growth
On the other hand, you may want to look at other ways of growing the business: from trying to ‘upsell’ to
existing clients, finding new clients who are interested in what you already do; to developing new products or
services.
This evening event is in two parts. Firstly, we have two presentations: Giles Moffatt, Group Managing Director
of Saint Johns Agency, will share fifteen years’ worth of tips, tactics, and techniques for writing winning
tenders in the often baffling world of Public Sector Procurement. Deb Sen, Director of Ministry for Growth
explains how a practical tool can be used to plot your path to growth; something you can start implementing
the next day.
The second part gets you involved in roundtable discussions. Giles and Deb will each lead a group discussion
and answer questions. They will also encourage participants to contribute ideas and share their experiences,
insights and concerns with their peers in an informal setting.
Who should attend?
This is the first event in a series of seminars that address issues specifically aimed at those who work for
agencies or are freelance consultants. If you have suggestions for topics you think we should address, please
tell us. We are happy to change our programme to include new ideas.
