In 2010, foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows to Latin America and the Caribbean rose 40% to US$113 billion. Brazil was the top recipient of FDI, followed by Mexico, Chile, Peru, and Colombia. The majority of FDI to the region has been in the natural resources and manufacturing sectors. The main sources of FDI are the United States, Spain, the Netherlands, China, and other Latin American countries. FDI to the region is forecast to continue rising in 2011.
