2. Great
potential
for Yukon
Yukon has a long and proud history of
exploration and mining. The mining industry
has been active here in Yukon for more
than a century.
Over time, technology and innovation have
continually enhanced our ability to discover
new deposits and expand on existing
deposits. Major mining and investment
firms continue to invest in Yukon not only
because of the strong mineral potential,
but also the clarity provided, in part, by
the Yukon Final and Self-Government
Agreements and partnerships with First
Nations.
The Government of Yukon is committed
to supporting environmentally and
economically sustainable mining, balanced
with responsible resource development.
We promote prospecting and exploration
activities through the Yukon Mineral
Exploration Program, and we provide the
highest quality geoscience data through
the Yukon Geological Survey.
There is great potential in 2018 for
exploration and development in Yukon.
Some of the largest mining companies in
the world agree and are currently exploring
in our territory. Investors see Yukon’s mineral
potential and we trust you will share their
confidence.

THE MAJORS
MOVED IN…
at least that has been Yukon’s
headline story for the past 18 months,
and it was certainly exciting – but the real
story is why they moved in and what’s next
for Yukon.
The major gold producers staked their claim in
experienced, well-managed and highly prospective
Yukon juniors that have been exploring the region
for years, and for some, over a decade. This
strategic investment reflects what the juniors here
already knew - that the region is underexplored,
hosts exceptional geology and is a geopolitically
safe and progressive jurisdiction, where
partnerships help to move projects forward.
In 2017, Yukon exploration numbers were on
the rise again, with an investment by juniors and
majors of over $90M in exploration and another
$68M in development – nearly $100M more than
the previous year. An added bonus was the
benefit of bear market prices for drilling, helicopters,
expediting and professional services – the
perfect time to make hay, or in many cases add
ounces (see “Yukon Mining Investment by the
Numbers” below).
Mining in the Yukon is looking to move forward
on all fronts. From exploration to development
and finally into production - we saw the
foundations being laid throughout the year. The
new Government of Yukon, who took office in
November 2016, kicked off 2017 by reaffirming
their commitment to advancing Yukon’s mineral
industry by renewing their relationship with
Yukon First Nations, and signing a memorandum
of understanding on mining with self-governing
First Nations, agreeing to work collaboratively
on all processes related to the minerals sector
in Yukon.

3. We also saw all three levels of Government –
Federal, Territorial and First Nation – as well
as industry come together to commit nearly
half a billion dollars towards infrastructure
development that will directly benefit the
advancement of our mining sector.
Importantly this will create access to the
well-established White Gold district, which
is host to companies such as Goldcorp,
Western Copper and Gold, White Gold Corp,
Independence Gold Corp, Triumph Gold Corp,
Trifecta Gold Corp and many more.
On advancing to production, Yukoners
attended the “Ground-Breaking Ceremony” of
Victoria Gold Corp’s Eagle Gold Project, which
is responsible in large part for the significant
development dollars posted in 2017. We
wrapped up the year with new licence granted
to Alexco Resource Corp for the Flame & Moth
mine, which adds to their fully permitted pipeline
of the Bellekeno, Lucky Queen and Onek mines.
5
Throughout
the year, Yukon
Mining Alliance,
and its growing group
of leaders in exploration
and development, promoted
Yukon at home, nationally and
internationally. Through its unique
partnership with government, Yukon First
Nations and mining partner organizations,
we connected with investors to share the benefits
of investing in our corner of the world. When you
tally all of Yukon’s many competitive advantages,
one thing consistently rises to the top – the
remarkable level of collaboration, cooperation
and commitment to ensuring a positive future for
Yukon’s mining sector, its people and communities.
With majors and juniors alike gearing up for
another sizable exploration season, and companies
advancing projects through development, Yukon
may see the next rush and this time we expect it
will be more than gold found in “in them thar hills”.
Stay tuned for a busy 2018.

5. If you have an opportunity to go on the invitation-
only Yukon property tour, drop what you’re doing
and go! The annual tour is a superb, efficient way to
see in detail numerous of the best resource projects
in Canada.
Yukon is a resource-rich, mining-friendly jurisdiction
with a deep legacy of discovery, extraction and
wealth creation. The property tour is focused and
well-organized, with visits to a variety of projects,
ranging from mineral exploration to development
and ore production. In addition to boots-down,
in-depth site visits, Yukon government and First
nation representatives, as well as company
management and technical teams, are routinely
available for discussions and fact-finding. From
beginning to end, the Yukon tour is time well spent.

DID YOU
KNOW?
Yukon is known for both its daylight and its darkness in our
peak seasons. On Winter Solstice, the sun rises at 10:10 am
and sets at 3:48 pm – Under 5 hours of daylight… BUT
Summer Solstice has a sun rise at 4:27 am and sets at 23:36
am, and doesn’t actually get dark giving the illusion of 24
hours of daylight – and 24 hours of exploration!
